As some of you may know (those of you that live in/around Austin, or have friends/relatives that do), it actually snowed in Austin last night.  Naturally, very little of it stuck because earlier in the day it was 81 degrees, but it snowed in early December.  Global warming?  I don't think so, somebody call Al Gore and tell him that he can keep using his jet.

I know it is snowing, or what you call snowing, here in Houston right now! That's sad when that is the big news! LOL! I am actually taking pictures, I need to get a life!

Several years ago, I lived in Beaumont.  One Sunday morning, I glanced out the kitchen window and saw about 1-2 inches on the ground.  I assure you that this inspired a quick double-take.  A few minutes later, I headed for the grocery store and saw that mine was the only house on the block that didn't have a grass studded snowman in the yard. When I returned about thirty minutes later, these vegetation encrusted snowmen were the only snow left.  I thought that global warming was no longer being disputed.  Guess Gore was wrong again.

Folks from the South are idiots for snow!  Here in Alabama if there is a mention of it, everyone heads to the grocer to stock up.  We all kind of wonder if the folks at the bread and milk company are in ca-hoots with the folks at the weather station?  Enjoy the pretty white stuff!

There was a lot of talk about Austin's snow last night on Twitter. Those rare occurences are always fun and really dress up the holidays ... not like the blizzards I grew up with in Wisconsin!

I lived in upstate New York for a time, and I sure do appreciate the Texas snow much more than upstate NY snow.  BIG DIFFERENCE!

Patrick, with this cold front that is sweeping the nation, I think that a lot of people are going to be getting weather that they are not use to.

Patrick - didn't you know that the eight consecutive years of declining temperatures are due to global warming? Al said so and the U.N. just declared that the argument is over.

I think I heard that more ice is building now  in the northern regions like the arctic than has for years.

Patrick,

As luck would have it I was in Austin for that historic event.

Now today we are getting freezing rain, what a wild December.  Luckily, it is supposed to be back into the 80's on Saturday.

Mike - Of course, that makes perfect sense.  I'm sure glad he won a Nobel Prize for that.

Trey - I haven't heard that, but an interesting factoid, thanks.

Richard - Glad to hear you were able to share in the experience, though a number of others had much more snow than we did (College Station and some areas around Houston).

That was the day before my birthday and we got a lot of snow here outside of Houston. Right now it's frigid again. In the 30s. Sadly no snow. My brother works at Accenture there in Austin so we compare weather notes. Stay warm!
