I could hardly believe my eyes. $1.39 a gallon for gas today. Not too long ago I wondered if we would ever see gas below $3.00 again. I'm sure it is not that low everywhere and I am not trying to brag but as I pulled the gas nozzle from my car all I could think was wahoo, Merry Christmas to me.

Merry Christmas indeed.  I saw it for $1.45 earlier, and I think there was an audible gasp in my car.  The CEO of Gulf is predicting gas will go under a dollar per gallon in early 2009.

the low prices are a blessing but I hope that this does not hinder the development of clean energy.

A couple months ago, I thought there'd be no way I could drive to chicago this Christmas, but with these rates, I can!

Thanks for your comment. Our prices dropped drastically in the past 2 weeks. It is sure nice. Mine was also at Costco.

Jason

$1.45 seems to be more common around here. Costcl seems to always stay under everyone else. We were all jumping up and down and we were still sitting!

Steve

I agree fully, how soon we tend to forget. We still need better alternatives. I guess they just look more costly when prices get this low. Lets hope it doesn't hinder developement.

The Kroger I fill up at is at $1.39 today... $1.29 with a Kroger Plus card.  I filled up the van for my wife a couple of days ago for $1.34 (with the card).  I'd love to see diesel come down...

who watched 60 minutes last Sunday?  interview with the oil minister of Saudi Arabia .... these prices are a concern... but I thought it was a great interview and to see the plants...and what they are doing...even seeking cleaner burning fuel, and solar energy ... it all makes sense ...  http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/12/05/60minutes/main4650223.shtml      I can't tell you how happy I am to have gas prices at $1.42 :-) tis the season to be Jolly!

We are at $2,10 a gallon right now. I am not complaining but this whole gas thing is a little fishy

Wow that is Great!  It is about $1.45 now in my area.  I would love to see down around $1.00 again.

Randy - That's Great. The lowest price on gas I have seen in the Jacksonville, FL area is $1.62. I hope we get down to $1.39

I hope I will see the same price in our area. I am glad it is less than it was last year.

Lane,

Sounds like things are going well in Georgia. Isn't it sweet. This is the first time in a while we have been below the national average.

Trunda,

Thanks for commenting, Good news is nice to get isn't it.

Thanks for the link to that story. It is amazing how far the technology has come. I'll certainly take these lower prices.

Robert,

Seems unfair your price is that high. How high did it go at its worst?

Jean,

Why is it that California always has some of the highes prices in the U.S.? I guess we can be happy we aren't paying what Robert is in Canada.

Carol,

Wouldn't under a dollar be great? I think the last time it was that low was in 1978. I remember filling up my Datsun 510 for $5

Robert,

I guess the consolation for you is the beautiful weather you have there. It may not get above 24 degrees tomorow here.

Gita,

It is a relief after what we saw this last year. Thanks for your comment.

Best price I saw in Henderson today was $1.69. Still, it's nice to fill up for under $20. Merry Christmas, Randy!

Obviously you're not in CA, we were happy when we saw it drop to the lowest ever at $1.69 per gallon, after being over $4 per gallon recently.

I've not seen it that low yet.  I think it is still over $1.55 here in Atlanta Georgia.

I got gas today for 1.79/gallon, 3 days ago it was 1.49.  I was still happy, the guy at the next pump was complaining about the price.  I shrugged him off and told him I remember not to long ago I was paying 4.49/per gallon, so I am not complaining.

I'm with you, I never thought it would be under 3/gallon either.  Its a bargin, especially with a 28 gallon gas tank!

John,

Isn't it great to fill up for under $20. Lets hope it hangs in there. Merry Christmas to you!

Regina,

I have alway wondered about California. How high are the taxes on gasonline there? It always seems that CA prices are considerably higher. We also were over $4 and were almost always above the national average.

Jim,

At least it is under $2 It has to make a difference and whatever price you are paying has to feel like a Christmas present.

Mike,

Thanks for commenting, Merry Christmas to you as well. I just wish I had a large storage tank for gas. As I think about it remember the Dodge deal 2.99 per gallon for the next year. A while back I was thinking the folks who purchased there were brilliant, now at least they can fill thier cars for alot less.

Jim,

lets enjoy it as long as we can, it takes away some of the pains of the rest of the economy. Here's to a great and prosperous new year.

Mary,

It still has to be alot better than it was a month ago. Thanks for commenting and have a wonderful holiday season.

Chad,

The roller coaster continues. Lets hope it comes back down, but good job looking at how much better off we are than a month or two ago. 28 gallons ouch that must have really hurt at 4.49 Merry Christmas to you!
