I love Christmas... all the lights, presents and family. I love getting all the family together on Christmas Eve and seeing each other during these special times. Now, don't get me wrong, it isn't like that is the only time I see my family. My whole family gets together about once a month and I talk to my parents everyday. But, there is just something about Christmas that makes it different.
I was tagged for the Christmas MeMe by Jeannette Neerpat and I have to say I don't really enjoy these because I'm not one that writes on command very well. My posts are usually written months in advance and they were just off the top of my head as I was driving in the car.
The idea behind the Christmas MeMe is that if we could get just one present, what would it be? Now this is going to sound funny and it may explain the IOU Checker Board from my previous post that no one understood.
I WANT THAT CHECKER BOARD! You see this checker board wasn't a checker board that you could buy at a store. My mom made these boards for Christmas Bazaars and the Grandfather made the checker board pieces out of wood. He was a toy maker, but my mom ran out that year and promised me one that I never got.
Unfortunately, my grandfather passed away before I could ever get the checker board. Now, I still joke every year with my mom that what I would really love is to have that checker board, but what I would rather have is my Grandfather back. He was a kind person who loved kids, no matter how much he pretended he didn't. You don't make wooden toys for kids if you don't like kids.
I still have a lot of my grandfather's toys and my kids are still playing with them on a daily basis, but just one more Christmas would have been nice.
The Christmas MeMe Rules:
- You have to name one gift you would like to have on Christmas.
- It has to be an object. We all want happiness for Christmas.
- If you could pick one single gift out for yourself-what would it be?
- Remember-it has to be something you can touch and hold....
Once you have done this, name five people or more and send this to them for them to name the one special gift they would like to have.
Now for my Five!
