Letterman's Top Ten

The Late Show Top Ten List is a regular segment of the television program The Late Show with David Letterman. It is adapted from Letterman's NBC show Late Night.

On September 18, 1985, the very first list, "The Top Ten Things That Almost Rhyme with Peas" was broadcast and the lists have grown traction.

These Top Ten Lists are given humorous topics such as Top Ten Signs Your Kid Had A Bad First Day At School or Top Ten Rejected James Bond Gadgets.

The Top Ten List was added as a way of mocking People magazine, which routinely featured such lists (as well as 'Worst 10' lists).   from Wikipedia

Ironically, the satirical Letterman Top Ten List had become so popular that it became a signature feature of the show, and at one point a series of compilations were released for sale in bookstores.

The point from this Letterman Lesson is that People, Clients, Customers, Hobo's, Doctors, Teachers, Pharmacists, Clerks, Station Attendants,  Race Car Drivers, Swimmers, Fashion Designers, etc., they all love lists relevant or not.

So here is an idea for today's Real Estate go-getter.

Start a list!  Craig has one, why not you!

Buy a domain name, let's say "10BestDealsHousing.com" or "BestDealsInHousing.com"

Next make your page with categories or columns:

•1.      Foreclosures

•2.     Prices from 100K to 150K

•3.     Prices from 150K to 200K

•4.     Homes on Golf Courses

•5.     Homes in School District

•6.     Best Deal Period

You can take it from here on the categories.

Next start the research yourself and grow your list.  it will change daily, but hey that's why it will be legit.  Better yet hire some assistants and put them to work.  Be like Santa and check it twice.  Once you get your listed started and legit it will be time to put it "out there".

Now call every brokerage, Realtor, Sales person, Investor and ask them to submit what they feel is their best deal and why.  If they make the list great, if they don't, try again next week as the list should be updated on a weekly basis.

When your list is legit, the Real Estate community will bend over backwards to make the list, give you ideas, and maybe even sponsor the list.

Next the media will eat it up.  Newspapers, TV, Online Bloggers, etc.  Buyers will flock to the site to see what is the best deal and why their Realtor did not show the property.

This cannot be a fancy promotion on just your list.  It has to be legit or it will not have any staying power.

Also, buyers without Realtors need to call 1-800- TOP-LIST to have you show them the property.  Your slice of the pie for all your hard work.

Remember People love lists!

I hope I made yours!
