Need New Eyes?

By
Real Estate Agent with Owner - RE/MAX Access - KristinMoran@Remax.net

My little sisters husband's name is George.  About two years ago they moved to California from Texas and had a huge "let's get rid of everything" sale.  I bought a treadmill from him.  It was so cheap at $200 smack-a-roos I felt like I practically snuck into his home at night, loaded it into the trunk of my car and sped away.  So, now it's mine & sit's in a spare bedroom of my home.

When you step on the treadmill it let's you program in what path you would like to take.  Everytime I get on the treadmill I SAW words that I read to be "George Trail".  I always thought, how cute & fitting?  George owned the treadmill & he had a trail named after him.  Cute.

I do not get on the treadmill without a book in my hand or ipod earphones in my ears.  There is always something going on.

I got on the treadmill the other day sans ipod or book.  NOTHING.  I had nothing to focus on BUT the treadmill so that's what I did.  I soon realized what I always read to be GEORGE trail actually reads GORGE Trail, which had me laughing out loud.  Laughing out loud and then thinking to myself how amazing it is when the head is cleared of all other outside noise what I see more clearly.

How many times have you looked at something with new eyes and seen something so simple that made so much sense that you thought, WOW!  Why didn't I see that before?

What's something that's not working for you as you think it should?  Maybe it's your marketing plan or your daily routine, if you really take a good look at it instead of just doing what you've always done, you might find you have new ideas that can change the course you are taking. Especially now that the market has slowed down in most parts, now that we have time to, it's important to take a step back and review with new eyes what's working and what's not.

Kristin,

It is always a good idea to take a look from a different view...  With a new set of eyes works wonders.

Funny story about the treadmill.

Kristin - haha, funny. I am known to do these types of errr... reading plunders on occasion. Or maybe it's just my pronounciation LOL. Anyway you make a good point. I really need to find some more time and step away for a bit so I can look at things with new eyes, or at least refreshed ones. ~Rita

That's too funny, KM.  I suppose we have all had the same experience at some time.  At least you get on the treadmill.  I have a stepper machine I got at Sharper Image but it is very lonely.

Kristin - I am the king of that sort of thing...my brain and eyes function at two different speeds.  Its a great point though, sometimes you need to step away and look at something with "fresh eyes" - especially in the world of computers.  Having built websites for years, I learned that when you're looking through code that is "perfect" but loads and looks like a mangled piece of car wreckage, you have to walk away and clear your head, then come back and look.  When you do, you'll often find that its something as simple as a missed character or a forgotten tag that you never closed.  Simple errors can be overlooked very easily, but found just as easily when your mind is relaxed.

HA!  I could see that being a mistake.  I read George Trail from the picture until you pointed out that it actually reads Gorge.  Does that mean I need glasses too?  I probably would not have been close enough on the treadmill to even make the mistake, so I applaud you for evening having it in your house.  Who care's if you know how to read.  Kidding.

Oh my gosh, that is so funny and totally something I would do! In fact, I just did it! I was reading a long and sure enough, there was a "GEORGE" trail. I thought, "wow, it is not even programed in but built in"!  Duh.

You sure you're not naturally blonde like me?

Hi Ann - Yea, I was amazed when I realized it.  You know if I got on it more it would have happened sooner i'm sure :).

Rita - Refershed eyes are nice, you can see things more clearly!  I had lasix about 3 years ago and have loved being able to look @ the clock in the middle of the night w/out having to grab my glasses!  Lasix rocks.

Mandi - Good, I don't feel so badly!

Russell - You and me both!  Funny thing is I consider myself to be a very good speller (sentence structure & commas are another story) so was amazed that I was reading something wrong for so long.

SP - That's funny.  I know, mine doesn't get as much attention as it should either.  The funny thing is my dogs freak out when anyone puts on tennis shoes & grabs an ipod so on this day I had to sneak into the room to put on my shoes.  They think they are going for a walk so I try to distract them as I go to the treadmill.  I can't stand to see their little disappointed faces when they realize it's a walk on the treadmill.  Not as much fun for them.  KM

CC - HA!  That's true, except while driving ;0.

Matt - writing code, ugh.  You seem to have had many past lives in your years.  Many talents, congrats on the contest!  I thought you should have gotten first prize!  Yours was a personal experience!

Hi John - SEE!  I'm not alone.  The treadmill does get lonely @ times, don't get me wrong.

Cristal - As a matter of fact...I dye my hair brown :).

Debi - Thanks Debi!  Glad I got you to smile today!  KM

Kristin...

There have actually been studies about how the brain rearranges letters to make sense, so I guess that you have a very smart brain!

Kristin - I did all the website for the band until we got to a point where I didn't have as much time, then we had one other guy and I who did it all.  He did most of the graphics and such and I did most of the coding (except Flash which I was never very good at).  I was pretty excited about the contest.
