Have you ever heard of the term Pay It Forward?  Yes, it was a movie (I never saw it).  It's also a foundation (I don’t belong to it).  BUT, I do practice “paying it forward” as often as possible.  The concept is simple…

Do something kind for someone and that person does something for someone and so on and so on.  The idea is that you can have an impact on many people just from putting the ball in motion. I like doing something unexpectedly nice for someone.   I call it a “random act of kindness”.

Over the past few weeks I’ve had my butt kicked at every turn.  I finally reconciled myself to the fact that I must need to learn some lesson.

So to get myself out of this “funk” I decided to “set the ball in motion”.  I went out of my way to do something special for a deserving person.  When I was told thank you, I relied “just pay it forward”.  Hopefully, the recipient of my special attention will do something for someone else.  I love the way I feel after doing something nice for someone else.  It really lifts my spirit.  I encourage all of you to go out and do a “random act of kindness”.  You wont regret it!

Great blog to remind us that sometimes we get caught up in our own world & forget why we're here. You should rent the movie, it's got a great message.

I need to bust out of a funk too.  Tomorrow will be a RAK day.

That's a good idea.  I woke up this morning and told myself that I was going to have a great day no matter what.  I held my head high, kept the right attitude and Voila!  My manufactured home loan was cleared to close, I had docs drawn on a hard $1.5 million loan, and I got an approval for a tough 100% NO DOC loan.

Then my sister cancelled a cheap ass little line of credit because her credt union offered her .5% better in rate (she signed docs).  I was making $275 on the loan.  The $275 is miniscule but the call dragged me back into the funk for the rest of the day.

I'll try again tomorrow

WOW... I never THOUGHT how powerful it would be to break the funk by doing something kind for someone else.  I can NOT wait for the next funky period.

I am gonna apply this one to my life.

PS: This post DID pay it forward... you gave me a tool I never had before.

Very well said Sara!

I was witness to an act of kindness you gave someone and it was appreciated...more than you know. I believe in karma and "what goes around comes around.

This is a wonderful and awsome idea...if everyone in the world was so selfless and took the time to employ random acts of kindness I am certain this world would be a better place.

Karma is alive and well....Treat others as you want to be treated...I am sure all the good things you deserve are around the corner.

Whenever I feel like things are bad, I remember when I did volunteer work answering phones on the "crisis line"--it always made me think that "I had no problems."  Yes, work is very important to me and sometimes things get a bit hairy--but with a great broker and the ability to vent we can get through it!

I've always believed in and tried to live by the "Golden Rule".  We all have our 'moments' but it's worked well so far.  Pay It Forward is a good movie but with a sad ending.

Leanne,

I have the movie downstairs waiting to be watched.  I hate sad endings.  Should I skip it?

This is a great post!  Pay it forward, it's amazing how simple happiness can really be if you think about it.

It is a great movie, you really should see it, it gives you so much hope at the end you can't wait to think of the things you can do for people and it lifted my spirits before I actually even did anything!

Sara, although it leaves many teary-eyed at the end, it is a movie that's worthwhile to watch, but I guess if you really hate sad endings, then skip it.  You already know the concept of "pay it forward".
