In Jane Adsley-Chopp's first blog, she mentioned the fantastic lights at The Court House in Johnson City, Texas.  She is right on!

stamp                   Gene & I drove to Marble Falls and on to Johnson City to see the "Lights Spectacular, Hill Country Style".

court housecourthouse

This was the 19th annual light display of the Blanco County Courthouse and sure enough the over 100,000 lights on the building do illuminate the sky!   carriage ride

We got there just at dusk as they threw the switch.  Horse carriages began pulling up to take riders through the brightly decorated streets past local homes, businesses and churches all decked out in their Christmas finery.

It really felt like a winter wonderland.  There was a charter bus from Kileen that pulled up and parked itself right in front of the Court House blocking everyone's view.  Many were trying to get the driver of this monstrosity to move it but he kept the door shut on the bus so you couldn't talk to him!

The real treat was to see the 1,000,000 plus lights adorning the headquarters of the Pedernales Electric Cooperative.PEC This was indeed worth the drive from Austin!  The trees wrapped in lights were captivating and watching the children spellbound under the canopy of twinkling lights waiting to see Santa brought back many holiday memories.  PEC santa

Johnson City exhibits one of the largest holiday lights displays in Texas.  Southern Living magazine described the Blanco County Courthouse lights as they "shine brighter than the Star of Bethlehem".

Jane thanks for the suggestion!  We heard about the lights but have never seen them.  If you want to share the holiday spirit then make the time to be a part of this magical experience.  If any of you go, let me know what you think.

Dorie:  That courthouse looks impressive...probably more so in person.  The pics I take of Christmas lights never seem to capture exactly what I'm seeing.

Dorie-

That is some light display on the buildings, I guess it's true what they say, things are bigger in Texas.

Happy Holidays!

Those are beautiful! And you obviously know how to use the slow shutter speed on your camera ;) You got the maximum light in your shots, at night.
