I just saw a report on what the weather predictions are for this coming fall, winter and spring. And it would appear that El Nino is back, greatly affecting weather all across the country. The good news for those of us in the north and in New England is that our winter is supposed to be warmer than normal and less snow. Of course, the flip side of that is that is not great news for those who make their living from lots of snow---ski resorts, folks who do snow plowing, those who sell products for use in snow (skis, plows, etc.). With the cost of heating fuels they way the are and the market slow-down, I for one would welcome a little warmer weather this winter!
For the south, they're predicting rainy soggy upcoming seasons, and potentially heavy flooding in various areas. They also said the west will experience heavy rainy seasons as well, and the dangers there will be from mudslides. It seems strange to me how warmer ocean waters can have these kinds of effects all across the country, but we clearly know it does.
Here in New Hampshire, along the seacoast areas of Portsmouth, Hampton, Rye, and into southern Maine, Kittery, Eliot, York, and surrounding areas, it has been unseasonably cool. Because of that, it seems unlikely that we'll be having warmer than normal fall & winter seasons, but I would surely welcome that because it's just a little too chilly too early here for me this year!
Hi Ann,
Up here in Western New York we have had nothing but rain for 4 days already and no sunshine on the horizon... Cold too!!
(I'm not complaining though, this will be the first time that I have seen any "real" snow... I'm excited for now, although I have been warned that this will be short lived! )
Have a great day! :)
