Dear Family,

casket photoIf you bury me with my cell phone, this is a promise - I will HAUNT you!

I love how technology has allowed me to be more productive, I am addicted to my Blackberry.  BUT I am not going to take my cell phone in the grave with me and I really don't want my funeral interrupted by clients (I guess they are former clients by then) calling!

According to the MSNBC article, some people place tech items with their departed love ones for comfort...""I've seen family members place iPod earphones on the decedent and play songs as the casket closed," says Pam Vetter, a Los Angeles funeral planner".

The article goes on to talk about one person who had the cell phone number carved on the headstone.

I'm sorry, that is just strange!  I want my eternal rest to be Quiet! What about you?

I agree!  I want my cell phone thrown away or given to a new agent when I die!  Assuming I haven't stopped doing real estate by then, but I'll probably still be doing it...

Sandy, LOL - I had not thought about willing my cell phone to another agent, maybe that needs to be part of our final exit strategy :)

Charlie - how is it going up in Mountain country?  Vibrate drives me nuts, I think it is because I'm so short - my pockets end up around my knees instead of my hip.  I could see turning it off and sending it maybe - but they were talking about family members calling the phone during the service even and having a bluetooth in during viewing.  Do they think a miracle is going to happen and you are going to answer it?

I've often said that when I retire from real estate, I'm going to throw my phone away!  But on the bright side, I have voice mail, and I'm not a slave to my phone.

By the way, what's the area code for the here after?

Michelle - I think I want to take it with me, at least if I wake up, I can call someone and say,

HEY UP THERE  YOU GUYS SCREWED UP!

My phone is always on vibrate so at least I would not disturb the peace of the cemetary.  I am not that connected to my phone.  Gee I wonder where it is now?

Michelle, I saw something on 60 Minutes or another show about people sitting up like they are watching TV in funeral homes with all their toys. It was beyond bizarre! This reminds me of the Egyptians and their furniture, clothes, and food for the afterlife. Are you going to REtechSouth?
