Riede Real Estate in SacramentoWith the new year approaching and new beginnings... change is on the horizon.

It seemed appropriate to announce the start of my new Real Estate Company, Riede Real Estate here on Active Rain.

This week was my last week after many years with Remax. However, having been a Broker for several years it makes sense to strike out on my own.

One of the questions many of my friends who are not in Real Estate asked was, "how are you going to make it in this economy?"

I was perplexed by that question and asked what they meant.  "Well, doesn't Remax give you buyers and sellers and pay for everything?"

There is such a misconception out there in the world about Realtors, Real Estate Agencies and the like.

When I answered no, Remax does not give me clients nor do they pay for any of my bills.  I've been paying Remax for many years and before that Century 21.  Now, it's time for me to pay for my own company.  My clients come to me from my blogging and my past service, as referrals.

Sacramento Real Estate Riede Real Estate

I loved being with Remax but it is time for Riede Real Estate to step up and be noticed.

My past clients and friends are thrilled and I'm excited, too!

I polled my past clients this year and asked them if they came to me because I was with Remax and the answer was, no.  When I asked them if it would make a difference if I had my own company, they said, no.  Past home buyers and home sellers came to me because they liked what I stand for and how I do business.

Above is my new business card and my signs are exquisite.  A young man from Southern CA by the name of Carl Lindstrom designed both my signs and business cards and I think he did a fantastic job.

I must show you the signage so that you too can ohhhh and ahhh as I did. I think the signs are exquisite.

During all the planning I so wanted to come to the Active Rain community and ask your opinion but I felt that I needed to give Remax the respect due them and make sure that they were made aware of the change before anyone else. Riede Real Estate Home For Sale

This is not the finished product but I just couldn't wait to show you.

I'd like your opinion so chime in and let me know what you think.

Just in case you are wondering I'm not one to like my photo on my signs...

It's a time of new beginnings and change... but still the same quality service that I've been known for.

So, give a shout out to Riede Real Estate of Sacramento, CA!

I look forward to a new beginning and a new year of helping more Sacramento home buyers and home sellers with their real estate needs.

It has been a pleasure so far...

After a little tweaking and maneuvering my sign guy has come up with the final proof of Riede Real Estate homes for sale sign...here she comes

Riede Real Estate homes for saleNow, how do you feel about that?

Would you like this sign out in front of your home for sale in and around the Sacramento are?

The only thing I asked the sign man is to put a little light in behind the "R" ...

I think this one is a winner...how about you?

For years I have had to use the title Associate Broker since there can ONLY be ONE Broker on record.  And anyone using that title that works for a brokerage is missleading the public.

Although my license has said Broker for many years, I had to use Assoc. Broker.

Now, Broker is my title.

Gena ~ Oh my gosh, how exciting for you!No doubt in my mind you will do exceedingly well! As for waiting until now and giving ReMax their due, you are one very special individual.

If most agents sat down and sourced their own personal business I imagine they would most likely come up with the same response, it's the efforts of the individual agents that ususally prevails, not the name on the door. At least imho.

Congratulations on this exciting time for you, welcome to the ranks of broker/ownership. I wish you nothing but the best, you go girl!

Gena - Let me be among the first people to congratulate you on your new (ad)venture!  I started my own brokerage around this time of year back in 2004, and I think it was one of the best decisions I ever made.  I hope that 2009 brings you an incredible year of sales as you get started!

Best wishes in starting out on your own! And I do like your logo and new look--I'll keep the name handy for the design work.

Gena, good for you!  Wow!  Opening your own shop is totally gutsy!

And I like your sign. It's tasteful and says just enough!

I'd suggest that you not repeat Reide and instead either make "Real Estate" a little bigger or bolder.  My old company redesigned their signs without saying what we sold at all and when I pointed out to the broker who did it, he got a little ticked at me!  But I didn't think that was it was the best place to be subtle!

We'll be looking forward to reading all about your adventures!

Gena - many congratulations on your new company. I'm sure RE/MAX is sorry to see you go. Best of luck - I know you will continue to be successful as you have been.

Oh Gena!  How exciting!  I know you are thrilled.  Your signs and logos are b e a u t i f u l!!!  I know that you will do fantastic!   That is so funny about people thinking Re/Max pays for everything.  Ha Ha  Yeah right

I am so happy to hear that you get customers from blogging!  :-)

Gena: YAHOO!  So glad you are now on your own--and wish you great success in your new venture. It has been fun going through designs together--and I think Carl Lindstrom did a magnificent job for us both.

Prediction: Your sign will attract great attention--and lots of buyers!

Congratulations Gene, I like very much the design, the colors and it has a very smart look. You have built your name and now it seems like the time to make your move. RE/MAX is great and I am sure you will be missed but no reason I can think of that you won't be as or more successful than before.

Wishing to Best Always!

PS, Forgive my mispelling.

Lynda, thank you so much.  My past clients are very excited for me and I am looking forward to 2009 with many great years ahead.

Jason, I didn't realize that you too were among the many!  I appreciate your good wishes and can't wait to begin the process.

Julia, thank you, glad you like it.  Carl is excellent and is very reasonable...two very important attributes.  He is a good one to keep in mind.

Patricia, that's a very good point that I will certainly take into consideration. I appreciate your candor and help. It's always good to have feed-back.

Jeff, the Vice President of Remax is the one who had initially hired me and I wanted to make sure that I spoke with her first before coming out publicly to announce my new company.  It is bitter sweet to leave but at the same time it is a new beginning and one that I probably should have done a long time ago. As the VP at Remax said, the door is always open. Thank you for your well wishes.

Debbie, thank you. Yes, the general public really has a misconception about what Realtors pay for. I know my own friends have been surprised and shocked to find out what we do pay for and how much everything is. I'm looking forward to paying for my own company, now.

Roberta, thank you. It's been a journey for us both and I appreciate your friendship and help along the way. I'm so glad that you knew Carl Lindstrom and his fabulous new generation work.  Love your prediction and hope to continue to grow my business as well as wish you also grow yours. We will have a GREAT 2009 year with many more to come.

William, you are so funny. After all these years...I forgive you. The name is GENA RIEDE but I love you, anyway. Thank you for your well wishes and I look forward to a SMASHING good year.

Bill, yes Remax is as close as any Big Box Real Estate company to owning your own but like you said, even with that they don't pay the bills.  Thank you for your well wishes and I plan on continuing as I have with quality service for all of my clients with many more to come.

Best of luck.....  As they say "no one is broker than the broker".....but in time you will develop enough agents that will produce enough that it finally makes sense.  During that time you will have a better appreciation of your previous brokers....

Congratulations Gina, As an ex - RE/Maxer gone broker I   will say it has been one heck of a ride. As far as signage and cards if your going for subtle or exquisite then when you have is great. I went with bright bright yellow and black writing because I wanted customers to see my signs a mile away.

I have found though you ask a hundred people you get 103 different opinions and all are wrong. Just stick to your hunches and you will do fine no doubt. Good luck and God Bless.

Gena, Good for you.  I wish you all the best.  I have been with Remax forever too and people are amazed that Remax doesn't give us the buyers or pay for our cars.  Interesting the perceptions that people have.

You are going to just great.  People come to you because of you and the service and knowledge you provide to your clients.

Congratulations.

Gena, CONGRATS!!  You are going to love it!!  It will be 4 years the February 1st since I left RE/MAX and went out on my own.  It was a big change but not really, being with a RE/MAX I was already doing everything myself.  You are right though the general public does not understand but I just tell them with technology we no longer need those big companies.  They do understand that.

Georgina, miss being in Maui this year but do appreciate your good wishes. I think 2009 will be an excellent year with home prices down, interest rates at an all time low and plenty of excellent homes for sale.

Marchel, absolutely. There will be no change. It's about time to let go of the balloon. Thank you for your well wishes. It will be a fantastic year.

Ann, thank you. The signs are being tweaked and I think they will look fantastic. As soon as they are ready, I will put one on a house I have for sale and share the photo here.

Unfortunately, the sign company I originally thought was making the sign had some internal issues and never got them made so this week they should be finished. Can't wait to share them with you.

Gena...CONGRATULATIONS! I found your post as I was searching "starting your own brokerage". I read your post and feel I will be posting a VERY similar blog in the near future.
