Winter Market in Red Hook was a success despite icy weather.

Despite the icy weather and the power outage, I am happy to report that the Winter Marketat the Elmendorph in Red Hook was held as planned and many turned out to participate.

Turnips and other vegetables from Hearty Roots Community Farm

Apples and Squash from Migliorelli Farm Red Hook NY

Wool Hudson Valley Sheep and Wool Co Red Hook

As you can see there were a variety of products, all local. This market will be held again in January on the 2nd Saturday.  It is my hope that the weather at that time will be better, then again we are talking about January in the Northeast.

See you then.

That winter market is awesome.  I love the slide show.  The colors make one forget how white it is outside (lol)1  Stay warm and enjoy the holiday season.

Joan I know what you mean, it was rather colorful.  Just wished we had not had the storm.

Bill me too.

Hi Jennifer,

Wow, you folks in cold-country just amaze me! You are a hearty bunch, looks like you have a great winter market. Your side show was just lovely and the thought of a Red Hook Cookbook sounds neat to me. I've got a small collection them myself and I love those that are regional.

Merry Christmas!

Jennifer, it looks great, what a wonderful idea for an indoor market. Those fresh chickens looked yummy. Enjoyed the show.

Hi Jennifer... The wool is brilliantly colorful and the produce looks so fresh and delicious that I can just taste it!  It all looks so vibrant and beautiful!  Thanks for sharing.  Hmmm... now I'm hungry and want to knit something!!

Nice review and pictures, Fran.  We have winter markets at the fairgrounds in Lake County, IL, but I have never attended one yet!  The Kane County Flea IL market goes all year, though, and that is really a good one.

Lynda - during the cold months we have to think of things to keep us engaged.  Many look forward to the winter sports.

I use to collect cookbooks also; now I just Google.  I suspect there are still many gems just found in books.

Kathy I felt the same way; what vibrant colors. I wished I knew how to knit however I am a lost cause when it comes to anything in that department

Missy I couldn't agree more, and everything looked great.  Since I was without electricity I did not get one of those chicken.

Georges the apples were beautiful.  Yellow and stripe items were squashes.

Steve - I would sure love to see you knitting.

I like outdoor markets, we are lucky in Manhattan to have so many options.  I liked the imbedded video in the blog also, I need to add that to my posts.

Jennifer, what HUGE turnips, huh? I love this type of market. So many cool things to touch, feel, and then to buy. ;-)
