I was never a Girl Scout but my daughter was. An awesome experience for young girls - thanks for getting the word out in your area. Many young girls will benefit at Fort Rucker.

What a great thing to get your girls involved in.  I was a Bluebird, but my little sister was a Girl Scout, and it always looked like a great experience.

Debbie:  It truly is a great program.  However, it is one of those programs that you see the same parents always volunteering their time.  I hope this post for the Fort Rucker Girl Scouts program reaches out to all who are interested.  It is almost Girl Scout Cookie Time.

You are so right, Michelle. It typically is the same parents over and over, for Girl Scouts and other programs as well.

I do hope you attract new girls even if the parents can't or won't help. Girl Scouts is a networking experience those girls will remember for the rest of their lives.

Please keep us updated on your group - and those cookie sales! I love the carmel coconut ones - can't think of the name right now!

Debbie:  Samoas (SP)...My favorite too!  I remember this girl from 3rd grade when we where in a troop together in Hawaii. We kept in touch for several years and even visited over the summer a few times.  I have lost contact with her and think about her every now and again. Anyone know of a Kimberly Ernst in the Cincinnati Ohio area pass on the information!

Christine:  Bluebird?  What is that? Never heard of it.  I was a girl scout for years and loved it.  Now, I am actively involved in the Fort Rucker Cub / Boy Scouts Pack 50, with my son.  We have so much fun.  Thanks for the add.  Happy Holidays.

Michelle, Nice plug for a great organization.  My daughter was a girl scout through her eight grade year and loved it.  It was a great experience.

Barb:  It really is a great program for young girls.  Building character and encouraging them to do the honorable thing is so important in this growing children. I am sure you guys sold alot of Girl Scout cookies during your daugther's years of Girl Scout.

I was a girl scout.  We had a great time doing things for the community and taking great trips. During my 20 year class reunion weekend, our old Girl Scout troop got together for brunch, along with the moms that were still in the area.

Jen:  I have many great memories of being a Girl Scout.  The camp outs, selling Girl Scout Cookies, earning your patches, "what great times".  How fun to be able to meet up with all your old fellow Scouts.  Do you stay in contact with many of them prior to your class reunion?  Hopefully you guys get to see each other at the next reunion.

I forgot about Girl Scouts - I was a blue bird, but dropped out because I didn't like the brown girl scout uniforms - vain at a young age!  I wonder when the cookie season starts?

Virginia in Mesquite:  Blue Bird? Is that similar to what they call Daisy's now?  GIRL SCOUT COOKIE SEASON HAS HIT THE STREETS here in the Fort Rucker area!  Be on the look out.

Yes, Michelle, I was a BlueBird - then we graduated to Camp Fire Girl.  It was the competition for Girl Scouts, I think, in the olden days.  But there was no Camp Fire Girls troup in my area and I didn't want to be a Girl Scout because of those brown uniforms.  We sold cookies, too.  I never sold any, I always ate them all and my mom made me do chores to earn the money to pay them back.  A learning experience - good thing houses are not edible!

Virginia:  Sounds like you had a grand time during the BlueBird years.  I could see how the Brown was a turn off.  I wonder if BlueBirds are still around?  Scouts is such a great program for kids.  How ate all the cookies from the cookie jar?  VIRGINIA!  PS I have started to see all the Girl Scout Cookie sheets out!
