Sherwood is a great little city located just minutes southwest of Portland Oregon in Washington County, Oregon. It is a residential community in the Tualatin Valley southwest of Portland. The population was 11,791 at the 2000 census. The 2006 estimate is 16,115 residents.

Before it became a city, the area that is now Sherwood was inhabited by the Tualatin Indians. The first wagon train arrived in 1843, and by 1853, Sherwood was being settled by farmers. Their houses were build with logs from the forest once covered the area. They grew almost everything they needed, and twice a year, they took a three day journey into Portland for salt, sugar, syrup and others.

The perfect combination of traditional and innovative distinctive elements, Sherwood offers a charming mixture create a unique harmony. It is surrounded by hills of fertile land and the protected wetlands of the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge. Old Town and it's antique stores and tea shops is just minutes away from new commercial businesses, such as the YMCA, the ACT III 10-screen theater, and the Ice Hus, a double-sheet ice rink.

This family-oriented community is not far away from the commercial bustle of Portland. Providing attractions for the whole family, this mixture of oppositions makes Sherwood one of Oregon's most livable cities.

Located on highway 99W, between Tigard and Newberg, the city is part of a very important transportation triangle in south Washington County. The location also favors professionals who work in Portland, but want to live in the quiet of the Sherwood community.
