Realtors you are not allowed to Whine!

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with LemonTree Realty
Whining by an Orlando area Realtor, mortgage broker, title company or anyone else about down payment assistance will not be tolerated.
I dont want to hear a whine come out of you. No ifs, ands, or buts, about it. I dont want to hear I wish they would bring these programs back or why wont these politicians listen. You had your chance and I just dont want to hear it.

There was a rally today in front of Sen. Bill Nelson's office. There were blogs, emails, phone calls getting the word out about the rally to promote the HHR 6694 bill. The bill dies at the end of the year but the new HHR 6694 bill will be put on the forefront of the House of Representatives agenda when they reconvene at the beginning of the year. The house has amazing support for this bill, however we need to rally the Senate and not just to give a thumbs up but to understand and rally behind the bill.

Agents you had your chance today to have your voices heard, to stand tall and proud and show your support for your industry, for the items that affect us and our clients. But where were all of you? Too busy, you say? Hog wash. At high noon stood 3 of us, signs in hand rallying downtown Orlando's support. The numbers slowly grew but we had a total of 7 people. Pathetic if you ask me. Are you saying there are only 7 of us in the industry that care about this bill. Only 7 of us not lazy enough to get up and do something about it.

I realize there are those of you against it, read the bill first before you make your decision. This is not the reason we are in this mess.

You can still voice your support to your local Senator about why HHR 6694 if important by visiting Down Payment Assistance sites like Ameridream.

Buyers shouldn't you be working for an agent that is truly out there in the trenches working for your best interests. Taking time to support the issues that matter to you most? Ask your Realtor what have you done to support my interests as a buyer? I specialize in First Time Home Buyers and you all are near and dear to my heart.

HHR 6694 is difficult to understand, for me. I hadn't heard of it before. You're doing a wonderful job, though, of getting the word out.

I didn't make it to the rally but I did contact Senators Nelson and Martinez and my outgoing representative Tom Feeney about getting this back on track. I've also circulated a bunch of petitions online to my peers via email.  America really needs this down payment money in order to help get the economy moving again.  I would bet 1/3 of all my deals to retail buyers end up dealing with DPA or bond money.

Good for you in participating.  We need more real estate people like you being active in our community.  Consider joining the Government Affairs Committee at ORRA. We are always looking for dedicated people to volunteer.

Rob you are the only one off the hook :) You do a lot for helping and rallying government support. Maybe after the holidays I will check it out.

Oh, no.  I can't believe I missed it.  I truly meant to be there.  But, my husband got terminated from his job a week or so ago and he's been trying to get another one, so we're busy juggling two kids, me working my rear off, and my husband applying to any/all jobs.  Even with all that going on, I have spoken with people about this bill and emailed a LOT of people about supporting it.  It would really help with selling homes and stimulating the economy here in Central Florida.

Sad, indeed. I don't live in the Orlando area but if I did I would have been there! When opportunities come about you need to seize upon them. This attitude that someone else is going to take care of it is just wrong. Stop being lazy people and get involved!

Down payment assistance has allowed me to help so many creditworthy people become homeowners. The best part about it is that these people have instant equity in their home. We need buyers entering the market to stabilize home prices! You all know that.

So, let us all get off our duff and take action and speak up.

Thank you, Heather. You are to be commended.

I suspect everyone else was at the malls shopping. Y'all should have had your rally at the mall, led by Santa -- LOL.

Best wishes for health, happiness, peace, and prosperity in 2009.
