Tired of arguing with my computer

When I wrote my first blog I got lots of positive remarks. Thanks to all that commented. I felt really good about it and my intentions were to really jump right in and just blog away. Then the holidays came. I know that is a lame excuse but it is "my" excuse and I am sticking with it.

Now with all of the whining behind me I can get down to the real reason I am blogging today. When I try to add pictures to my blogs it (my stupid computer) will not let me. I click on the picture image and get the screen that shows how to insert and from there nothing happens. It will not go to the next step and let me retrieve the pictures from my computer. When I have the volume up on my computer I hear thunk noise. I have Norton Antivirus and Windows XP. Help.

Hi Paula; a thunk noise could be a fan problem or hard drive. As far as photo insert -when you get the first box you have to click next on the small box to the right of the line that says image URL. that will bring up a second box that will say "upload an image to Active Rain". You need to then click browse and then upload photo.

Sometimes these boxes hide.Try minimizing your browser and see if they are behind it. If that doesn't work then your firewall may be blocking you. Sorry would not be able to walk you thru that one. Good luck.

Computers are very dumb machines. They only do exactly what you tell them to do and that's what yours is doing.

It's a simple fix. No big problem. Your computer is just doing "exactly" what you've told it to do.

It's blocking pop-ups.

Click on the little tree and the Insert/Edit Image window comes up (beacuse it's a new window, not a pop-up.

In that new window, when you click on the little browse button at the far right of the "Image URL" that then opens a pop-up. THAT is what you've told your computer to block.

Fix it by holding down the Control Key "CTRL" before clicking on the little browse box.

Then the "Upload an image to ActiveRain" window opens. Click on the browse button in that window and your filing system will open to let you select the image.

Paula, Did any of these ideas work for you? I really want you to get the problem fixed because you have been my computer guru for so long I can't stand to see you struggling. AND I want you to move up in the ratings in Carteret County. I'm having so much fun playing in the rain and I want you here with me. Let me know what finally turns out to be the problem because I know you will find it. Good luck.
