Hungry Coyote in Highlands Ranch

There are a number of coyotes living in Highlands Ranch. Occasionally you can see them running across an open field or in the open spaces that surround Highlands Ranch.

Today Brian spotted this hungry guy about 2 pm right next to Southridge Rec. Center in Highlands Ranch.  He even "jogged" across a recently finished playground area.

The coyotes must be hungry and they are coming closer to homes. You can see this fellow is standing right next to some houses. On the photos where is is very attentive - he is looking at a dog on a backyard of a house.

Coyotes are frequently seen in Highlands Ranch and in other parts of Denver. Residents are adviced to keep their pets inside or on a leash.

That looks like a pretty well fed coyote . . . I know they move in closer to the prey. We have them here in our area as well, and I can occassionally hear them at night. They eat ducks, and other small prey. I have had one in front of my house looking at my dog (coyote size) during the day. They can be brazen for sure! Great photos!

Rita,

Nice photos. That is a way better looking coyote than most of them I see. They look like they are going bald....lousy scraggly fur.

He's so pretty. My first house with Russel had canyons on each side of the property, and we had a lot of coyotes and red foxes come to see us. They loved playing in the driveway with the kumquats, lemons, and tangerines.

Jim told me to come over here for a color post. He didn't say you had some pictures of a beautiful coyote.
