New Hampshire

My State Association, the New Hampshire Association of REALTORS, has a demographic advisor that provides us with monthly trends around our state, and gives us comparisons with the country and within our New England region.  This month's newsletter some really special things about our little state of New Hampshire, and it's kinda neat to read about them.

New Hampshire ranks in the top states for several social indicators:  We are ranked 5th in the country for median family income;  we are ranked 9th in the country for our percentage of college graduates;  we are ranked 12th in our average travel time to work; we rank 3rd for percentages of households that are married couples, and we're 7th in rankings for those percentages of couples where both work.

Our population is 1.3 million, and our median income is $67,400, compared to the national median of $55,8000.    25% of New Hampshire households are people living alone, 24% of our households are married couples with children, and 8% are single parents.

NH lags behind in housing units available when compared nationally--40 states have more housing units than we do here.  That stat shouldn't be surprising, as we are a small state, and we have large areas completely unsettled & undeveloped in the northern parts of NH.  An interesting note on our housing numbers, however, is that more than 10% of the housing units in NH are for other than primary housing--"seasonal, recreational or other such occasional use".  Only Maine & Vermont have higher non-primary housing units.

Our rate of growth among young people, ages 18-24, and among the older age group of 65 years and older is much faster than our neighboring New England states.  This was interpreted to mean that our state of New Hampshire is a more attractive place for retirement, and that those already living here approaching retirement will be less likely to move to another state for their retirement.

New Hampshire is the "Live Free or Die" state, also known as "The Granite State", and surely is one beautiful state.  If you've never been here, think about coming for a visit.  We've got several very different regions, and they all offer unique character and flavor.  Well-worth a trip to come see us

New Hampshire is truly a beautiful state.

My family has roots in Dunbarton (last of the family land was sold off in the late 80's...) and I still have relatives in the Concord area. The Manchester Airport is easy to get in and out of.

My wife and I have fond memories of  finding a cute B&B somewhere in the middle of no where in the middle of a snow storm... sure wish we could remember where it was.

Manchester is a breeze to get in and out of, although they are expanding it as I write this.  Still, much MUCH better than having to go to Boston and deal with Logan Airport.

C'mon back, we'll find ya that little B & B, or we can find ya a new one to explore!  We've got lots of "in the middle of nowhere" places you snuggle up in.......  and I can show you the coastal area where I live.

When we visited Maine two years ago, we chose to fly into Manchester and drive up from there. The airport had changed a lot from the last time we were there...
