Marianne Snygg, a Realtor in Monument CO who also goes by "@McSnygg", organized a Tweetup in Colorado Springs that I had the pleasure of attending.  Among many other wonderful Twitterers and conversations, the conversation that stuck out the most was the speeding ticket stories from Derek "reninja" Wagner.  (For the two or three of you who don't already know, @Mizzle & @reninja are a couple hilarious Realtors in Colorado Springs.)

Our "speeding ticket battle wounds" conversation reminded me of a real estate joke:

A guy gets pulled over for speeding & the following conversation ensues:

Officer: "May I have proof of insurance & your real estate license please?"

Driver: "I'm sorry officer, but don't you want my driver's license?

Officer: No -- not everyone has their driver's license.

Do YOU ever feel like that?

Happy Friday!

So True! We just had this conversation in our office this week.  I was paying my annual MLS dues and the comment was made that maybe some of the really part time people will not feel as though they can afford to keep their license because of all the expenses.

On top of that I had a realtor write an offer on one of my listings this week.  When he brought me the offer he told me it took him a long time to write it because he does so few that he has to read the whole thing word for word to make sure he isn't missing anything.

The other thing that really irks me as that these people actually get several leads from their full time job.  People just don't get it.

Fortunately, in this market, we will soon see some losses in the population density of agents...

Colo Spgs, CO is my hometown.  Now it's home to a bunch of  social networking rockstars, I see!

Kathy -- I couldn't agree more.  Part time agents are a lot of the reason real estate agents' reputations are in relatively the same position on the totem pole as used car salespeople.  Oh well... Like Paul in Rhode Island says: The current market conditions are certainly changing that landscape.

Kathleen - maybe we'll see you at the next #CStweetup!

Unfortunately in my market we've already lost a couple of really talented professional agents.  They prefer food with their meals.  Great joke.  I'm definately borrowing it.

LOL. Yes.  In fact, I was calling my e-leads yesterday and one of the people I called told me she didn't need an agent for anything because she already got her license.  Needless to say, she thought that her owning 3 homes made her more of an authority than me even though I've sold over 200!

Hahahaha! Too funny and too true...at least for a while anyway.

I've heard (but can't confirm) that there's been a really drastic drop in the Lexington KY area.  Lot's can't afford or choose not to renew their membership in LBAR.

What's it called?  Thinning the herd!

Dang! I missed that conversation...and very funny, too. I'm gonna re-blog that one! LOL. (Next Tweetup, no chairs so we can have more conversations. It was good to meet you...thanks for comming.

Chairs to tend to stifle the mingling don't they.  Make em stand up and move around gets more mingling done.

Yes it does look like in 2009 many will have their RE license inactive so guess (the proverbial) they will have to pick on someone else... LOL

Too funny Joel . .by the way I am still working on getting completely Twitter orientated.  To much going on with the holidays to really get into it.  Kids home driving me NUTS!

Raise the darn fees and let's get rid of the part time agents.  There are a lot in our "herd" that are running on three legs, The market is the lion pride.  It's all part of the circle of life.

Boy, isn't that the truth.  Everytime you turn around a client has one or two friend and realtives in the business.

I want to laugh...I really do...but I can't. It is TOO TRUE! At least four times today, I heard some news report or conversation that sounded a LOT like your post. I'm choosing to ignore ALL of that and just do what I do best...make it happen. :-)

That was funny!  Thanks for the laugh.  Happy New Year. Of course at least in California the numbers are finally starting to drop.

Too funny. That certainly could have been in San Diego about five years ago when there were about 28,000 Realtors here.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life -- make it a good start.
