I can not believe how the media is making a huge celebration over a foreigner throwing a shoe at the President of the United States. Now there is a popular game out making fun of our President having a shoe thrown at him. This is a deplorable as when the courts approved as "free speech" the burning of the American Flag! What is happening to America? I do not believe for one moment President Bush was that bad of a President. Look at what he has had to deal with while in office.  If this would have happened during WWII, or after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the American citizens would have ordered this man to his death, one way or another. The American mass media today is our worst enemy. They trend on America worse than the terrorist that are trying to take out the American people. One short message to the American people,,,WAKE UP BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE. If the National Media would have printed and broadcast this same negative news, created to destroy America, after Pearl Harbor as they are now, the American people who had patriotism at that time would have burned down the offices of every newspaper and media headquarters in the US. Face it people, we need to take control of America. Take it away from the media, away from all corrupt politicians, and away from every foreign source that is out to destroy life as we all know America was built on,,,FREEDOM. We are headed down a path led by politicians, and evil media sources that may not be reversable if we let it go too long. THINK ABOUT IT!

Robert - I completely agree with you about the media.  Too much power and their own agenda.

applauseI might disagree with you on the flag burning, however.  I respect the flag and my government - and I served in the military with pride - so I do not like the idea of anybody burning the flag.  But free speech is about how we deal with people we disagree with - there isn't much of a free speech issue when somebody agrees with us.  The burning of the flag is a powerful statement of disagreement with the government - and that right to disagree needs to be protected - as unpleasant as that may be.

The reporter with the shoes has been disrespectful of a visiting head of State who happens to be the President of MY country.  He has violated the rules of hospitality in any culture or religion.  In this country he would have committed the serious crime of aggravated assault - a felony in our laws.  He needs to go to jail according to the rules of Iraqi law - whatever they may be. This is a serious matter.

As for our current situation, we, as a nation, seem to forget that with freedom comes responsibility.  Our people seem to have missed the second half of that equation.

Thanks for your patriotism and your willingness to take a stand for your beliefs.  It is going to get worse before it gets better.  Yours is a voice we will need to keep hearing.

Robert,

It is not just patriotism, we are becoming a country devoid of morals.  The secularists would have us give up any foundation of principles at all. They would rather have a country of lemming which they feel would be easier to control. The problem arises that once we have lost our patriotism, our morals, the very foundations on which this country was built we will by then be on a fast train to oblivion.

Yes...This shoe throwing guy has become a hero to the left...the heros are the soldiers that are fighting in his country not him.

I gotta tell ya though.. Bush has quick reflexes... I think I would have been bonked right in the head.

I can't stand how the country has become a bastion of moral equivalence. The people on the left actually think it is funny that Bush got a shoe thrown at him??? I don't care who the president is, if someone throws a shoe at him/her, I am insulted and P*ssed off! Don't forget all the news channels making a big deal about other countries praising the shoe thrower! You are right though, I often think about how our citizens would react if you took todays news and transplanted it back to WWII days, how sad we have become!

The media is just as corrupt as the financial and automotive industry in my opinion.  One day the people of our great country will waken and exercise their right to vote and clean house.  Until that happens, the market and the media will be left unchecked.

The media has let America down by not reporting the truth about the candidate Bark Hussein Obama. The corrupt associations this man has had with such people like Gov. Blago, Rev. Wright, William Ayers and Tony Rezco and the phony land deal makes one wonder how anyone could get elected with such associations that would keep him on a list barring him from the White House. Now we have elected the man and he can walk in without any clearance.

What an indictment against the so called free press. The press was bout and paid for by the Democratic Party.

Patrick

As they say...the media considers themselves to be the " fourth branch" of the US government. Nice post.

it is amazing that no radical left-wingers have commented here. I mean the shoe bomber has to be there hero and no one is coming to his rescue!

I am guessing the reason no "radical left-wingers" have commented here was because the title "What Happened to American Patriotism" is of no interest to them or scared them away.  Trust me, there were plenty of other comments praising  the shoe thrower on another less politcal post.

You can't HAVE freedom without letting people be free to criticize the government and the politicians.

11:26am • #12

Leslie... criticizing is fine....using violent behavior towards the President is not..... come on...

12:07pm • #13

Leslie freedom is one thing, abuse of those freedoms is another animal. I have the freedom to own a gun. Fine. But if I use that freedom to own the gun to stick it to someone's head to rob them then it is a complete abuse of those freedoms our forefathers fought so hard for.

Isn't it funny how the left wingers are so confused about what the so called have stood for. Democrats have abused freedoms more than anyone in this country, ie Bill Clinton and the former pres Hillary, Al Gore and the fake global warming, Nancy Pelosi and her communist trip to Syria,,,on and on the merry go round goes. Liberals are some of the most ignorant confused people in this country,,could this be the reason they let the liberal media shoe in Obama for them???? No pun intended!!
