Don't let a "drive by' website attack threaten your Computer!

Computer problemsDo you use Internet Explorer 7? Well 70% of us do so. Some news stations a couple of days ago said - STOP using Explorer 7 until Microsoft fixes the problem. (You could visit a website and have malacious code installed on your computer). Use the Firefox Browser instead. Well Microsoft scurried around and released a special update to fix the problem.

But have you installed this update? Even if you have windows update set to install automatically this may not have been done. You can manually go to windows update and let microsoft check your system.

Is your computer set to install updates automatically? Check and see.

Go to Start> Control Panel > then switch to classic view.

Then select "Automatic Update"

The default time is 3:00 AM. But most people do not have their computers on at this time. (Maybe some Active Rain compulsive, insomniac bloggers?) Change the setting to a time your computer is likely to be on.

In theory even if the update time is 3:00 AM, then the updates should install the next time you turn on your computer. But I have worked on computers that have not been updated in a year of more - with this default setting!

I use Firefox so I shouldn't have a problem, but I do use IE on some sites that won't work with Firefox. I just did the update. Thanks.

Hi Michael; glad you did the update.  I have found some things don't work with Firefox also. So have been switching back and forth too.  Thanks for stopping by.

Internet Explorer can be a problem.  Unfortunately, many websites still don't run well on Firefox.

I think internet explorer is the pitts. Firefox is much better if you are a Realtor and use SEO for your websites and blogs.

Our MLS only runs on IE 6 so no updating until they update.

Hi Gene; Guess you have to use IE6 until they update. Though if you get bored with it you can have both browsers on your machine.

Firefox is great, Google is fixing something with Chrome, Safari is slow unless maybe you are a mac user??? Stick with Firefox, Google already know too much about you.
