Maureen Bray recently sent me a message asking if there was a way to size a picture with the Kodak v705 for posting to the internet.

Yes there is.  If you press the "Menu" button on the back of the camera, you can then toggle down until you get to "Picture Size".  Although the Kodak v705 is a powerful 7.1 megapixel camera, you can select smaller picture sizes such as 6.3, 5.0, 3.1, and 1.1 megapixels.  The 1.1 megapixel setting will be adequate for pictures posted to the internet.  This could save you time in not having to resize your photos, if this is all you are going to use them for.

However this setting will not be adequate if you are going to print them or use them in other printed matter, such as flyers and brochures.

Normally I would recommend taking the photos at 7.1 megapixels so that you have high quality images on file.  If you are using Windows XP there is a simple Microsoft add-on that makes resizing multiple images quick and easy. I am still awaiting Microsoft to come up with this simple add-on for Windows Vista.

I would recommend that members take the time to cruise through all of the past articles that Mike provides here. One of the most prevalent bad practices in our industry is agents who take miserable photos of their listings. With all the technology that's out there, there is no more excuses! And please, STOP taking pictures of bathrooms!. We all know what a toilet looks like, for goodness sake! Thanks, Mike

Once again, Mike, a great tutorial. My camera and I are getting to be better friends because of you. Hopefully the people who need the photography help the most will read and benefit from this.

Mike,

Thanks for your post and taking the time to put all this together.

The easiest tip for me is always to have my back against the sun and to avoid large sources of light in the picture.

Hi Mike, I can't figure all that stuff out so I still use an old 35mm camera and have my photos put on disc.  I have a software program that will let me do some editing.  I do have a new digital camera but find it too much of a hassle downloading, or is it uploading the pictures, then having to mess with them.  I think my age is showing here :-)
