A morning ritual would be first finding your car. From there you would use you ice scraper to chisel off the ice to the best of your ability as to see the class. This is all done with extreme care not to tear the vinyl or canvas/leather. The next step is to get your driver door open so you can get in an put a  key in the ignition. Let the fuel pump start and commence to start over the car. Once it is started it only takes about ten minutes or more for the heat to start. While you are waiting you can easily go in and slam two or three cups of coffee.

Next you hit the roads with five foot banks, ice and snow everywhere blowing,, and if your wipers are not working right you have about a twp foot visibility. Stopping? Your kidding right? No such thing but a slight crawl. Eventually you come close to your destination and upon entering the parking lot of your building you give is a gust so you can make it through the backs of snow that have not been plowed at 6 a.m. yet.

Now that you know how to drive in a Wisconsin Winter storm you'll be ready to tackle an football stadium, bait shop, or frosty event.

Welcome to Wisconsin

Gee Tom...you forgot all the fun stuff...ridding Bambi of relatives, finding other uses for squirrels and racoons, diving under the frozen lakes for fame and fortune...ice fishing for already frozen fish...driving is only the beginning of the fun we have up here !

I have friends driving up tomorrow - the kids had to buy coats and boats!  I guess you have 11 inches coming in the next few days?  Whew - what fun!

Ah, I remember the days and not with any fondness in my heart, either. Carrying de-icer in my pocket everywhere I went just in case my door locks were frozen. Blowing out the driveway with the snowblower and coming inside the house to shake off encrusted ice and snow on my pant cuffs and mittons. Frozen fingers and nose. Red cheeks. Stomping my feet to warm up. Bleech.

Tom:  I would love to have snow.  If it's going to be cold, it might as well snow.  Then again, I don't mind shoveling (probably cause I don't need to do it but a few times a year) and I am very confident driving in the snow.

Tom - I love those pictures...especially the horses!  I don't like driving in snow or ice - I guess I wouldn't make it in Wisconsin...  :)

Tom,

Finding you car???? Yikes, you folks in cold country are amazing. We've been complaining there for days about mid-50's weather, I know we're sissies.

I was in the Big Apple about 10 days ago, just before it got really cold, now it makes me cold just seeing it on the news.

Good luck!

Tom-Love the photos.  Missouri is not a lot different than Wisconsin right now.  Guess it gets us in the Christmas spirit, right?  LOL  Happy Holidays
