30 Comments on When A U-Turn Is A Good Thing
Hi Gary,
I love your always optimistic attitude! And who knows what the next five years will bring?
I know Hurricane Katrina was a big turn in peoples lifes for those of us who live in New Orleans. It was more like a ship wreck and is now part of our culture. Things are easy to replace as I had heard so many people say. "I never used all those things so why would I want a bigger space."
It was quite an experience, do I have a house? a job? somewhere to live? What about eating?
My business has changed so much over the past year. At times its felt like a huge roller coaster ride. As we look into 2009 I think a major thing for everyone is to stay optimistic. Thanks for the positive post.
Gary-I can really relate to this one. I have been through alot of changes in the last 2 years and you are right, we are not promised tomorrow. Live for today and look forward to tomorrow. A very good blog.. As Always....
GARY I do believe everything happens for a reason. Whether we understand or welcome it, it always prepares us for the next chapter in our lives.
Gary,
So true! Life is too short to focus on the past...take the turn and move on. ;-)

Good way to look at things -- when one door shuts another opens. All the best.
Gary,
U-Turns ar a good thing and it is time for me to do one and get a fresh view of things. Thank you my friend.
I think you have to stay open minded and adaptable to change.
Gary, Your post is excellent. I believe in looking back just far enough to make sure you're heading where you want to go and don't repeat mistakes. Sometimes we all need a U Turn in life.
Gary - love the comments here today! I think it is acceptable to be ok with the direction that you are going - whether or not it is a u turn or not. If you are on the right path, well then that is the most important.
My life changes every year. And about every 5 years I reassess my current situation to decide whether I want to move in a different direction. When you're married to real estate like I am, you've got to move with the flow of the marketplace if you want to stay in business.
We should start a company called going out of business. Then people will always think they are getting a good deal by shopping in our store and we might make it.
There's a company here in Huntsville (furniture store) that has been "going out of business" from the day they opened...I think that IS their name! I've never shopped there!
Holiday Hugs to you my friend,
Deb
Gary,
Life is continuously changing around us and we have to adjust to it. If it requires a U-turn or some other turn then we have to make it. Sometimes drastic measures are needed to find the right direction.
Gary - Good post. I've been too sick lately to hang out in the 'Rain. I've always believed when God closes a door, somehow He opens a window. I'm pretty sure if we walked in God's will, He will move us when our time is up. As humans, acknowledging that we must move on is not an easy task. Many people hold on with no future. That's when the situation turns sour. Thanks for your blog to say that it's okay to move on to other things in life.
Hi Gary, what you say is so true. Every 5 years my life is so drastically different that I could never have imagained it for myself. Someone once said to me , if there is a train going by, hop on, you just never know where you might end up. The best advice I can give is to be involved, be out there meeting people outside your circle and you will see new opportunities popping up that you would have missed otherwise.
Gary
This is all so true. I often wonder where I will be a few years from now. I suppose the secret to it all is active acceptance that all will change. The one constant however, can our hearts and our relationships...if we want them to.
Gary,
Agreed. A change of direction or refocus can be a very good thing. For people being squeezed out by big business, this is their time to grow. :)
Steve
Gary - Life is full of constant changes which we sometimes have no control of.
