I don't know about you but I am a marketer's dream..I sign up for just about anything..that's right FREE..... e-books...demo's and trials of software.

Now when I sign of for these FREE items...I know somehow...someway..I will be solicited...

I don't have a problem with it and I expect it...

BUT your E-Mail Drip Campaign is killing me!

Think about dating someone you barely know..do you start full force with force..or do you court them and let the love bloom?

Usually when the pace is too fast..and the feelings are not mutual..you end up parting company..cut off..it's over..the end!

Drip campaigns should be thinned out just a bit..with a personal email..call..or face to face (if possible)..

It's one thing to want to stay in touch..2 times a month or even once a week..but sending spam out...every single day..does not make for mutual relationship building.

And just like a relationship..when the feelings are not mutual..with a click of a mouse..there is a good chance that.....

You Lost A Customer Forever!

How about you?  How frequent is your drip campaign?

Midori - I feel the same way. If somebody sends me e-mails every day it doesn't take me long (at all) to cut the cord ~Rita

Midori - Our drip campaigns go out once a week and to be honest, we haven't had a great response. They definitely need to be tweaked. I'm not sure how I feel about the whole drip thing - I don't personally like 'canned' emails and yet I'm sending them. Conflict here...

Hi Sharon-I think frequency is the key..I know I read all kinds of materials and subscribe all over the place..I don't use drip yet..I just started using an autoresponder.  I also think with drip campaigns..supplementing old school methods will definitely give a better affect.

I'd rather have an rss feed to them...than get blasted with boring..over selling...e-mails everyday.  If I feel that way..I'm sure so do others.

Being e-blasted daily is the most annoying thing I can think of. It is overkill and I don't think anyone reads their Spam.

Which brings me to monthly drip marketing: I had an e-mail newsletter sent out  to a list of 300 for THREE YEARS that I considered a reasonable audience, most of whom I had met. When I got an "opt-in" e-mail sent to me, I saw that only 5 of the 300 wanted to keep on receiving my newsletter! I had never gotten any business from this, and now I realize what a waste of time! And I thought e-mail would be better than phone or direct mail-marketing.

I had eliminated direct mail due to the expense and lack of response.

What is next, carrier pigeon?

Agreed, those drip campaigns are insane -- they make me never want to deal with the person.

I know exactly what you mean.   Day after day sometimes even on weekends.  I really need to do some investigating and find out how I can get off of some of these email lists.

Good morning ma'am,

The email I think that I can live with, it is when they call you and will not let you go.  It is always just one more close question.  I have gotten to the point that I will not answer my phone when I do not recognize the number.

Good points ma'am.

I agree.  I signed up for a dept. store's emails and I get one everyday, now that is overkill.  And somehow 2 of my email addresses got signed up.

I don't do drip emails myself.

God..if I was to compare all the unsolicited emails to dating someone.....I'd probably have multiple girlfriends. More than one for each day!

I get so many from venders that I have no idea how they got my info...I keep asking them to remove me but they don't seem to listen until I threaten them with the Do not solicit list.

I axed my drip campaign in favor of a monthly e-newsletter that is permission based and gives them the opportunity to opt out.  It allows me to give better information without innundating people with canned emails waaaay more often than they really want to hear from me.  The reason I changed?  I subscribed to my own drip campaign and HATED it!

Midori, you made me smile.  You're right on the money on this Girl.  I have sometimes been added unsuspectingly to other agent's email campaigns and I let them go on so I could gain insight into what other agents were doing.  Boy was I turned off!  I was getting several pieces a week from one agent, and they weren't even quality.  I finally clicked "unsubscribe."  It was making me nuts.

I spend about 20 minutes daily "unsubscribing" from unsolicited e-mails. The WORST are the offers for leads, training and other various products that companies want to sell in a slow RE market. Then are the "drugs" for sale and then the letters from Nigeria and Ivory Coast. It has to stop.

Ahhhh!  You read my mind.

When I get a piece of promotional mail that interests me for immediate or future engagement, I BOOKMARK it.  That way I have it in my file of resources and IF I NEED THAT SERVICE, I know right where to find a source.

However, if I am constantly bombarded with the same or similar mails from the same source, I simply delete them from my bookmarks, resources file and memory.

Don't they understand that there is a tomorrow?  Do they believe that they will wear me down?  If what they are offering doesn't make any sense within my marketing plan, I'm not going to buy just because they bombard me with pestering mails.

Finally, the one way to make sure that I'll NEVER buy a product, service or plan is to be obscure.  If a produce, service or plan is worthwhile, it bears transparency.

Good post Midori.  This should have been featured.

I use a drip campaign, have to. But, the letters are s p r e a d out over 7 months. Each letter is personalized, and there is an opt out feauture at the bottom in they want to unsubscribe. I have sold many homes from using my drip campaign, with buyers who come back and buy when they are ready.

Hi Midori,

I think the old drip campaigns have to be revisited.  They really provide little to no value to consumers.  There are drip campaigns that allow for customization.  Original, fresh content is the key.
