Chattanooga has it's own organic paradise, Greenlife Grocery. Located conveniently at the Manufacturers Road exit of Hwy. 27 , it is a feast for the health oriented. I had occassion to go there today. This is only my second trip to their brand new store at this location. Originally it was located on Barton AVe. (Hixson Pike) in Red Bank. They are currently remodeling that location and have plans to reopen that store again also. I headed over to find a Christmas present for my business partner; organic, unpoped corn kernels. I called ahead and they assured me that they had them.
When I first walked into the store I noticed a vast array of organic wines and beers in a special section that I had never noticed before. This is a great feature for me because I am slowly changing to all organic. It seemed as if there was a broad selection.
Immediately upon entering I spotted the deli. This deli is notorious for a huge variety of cheeses from all over the world as well as goat cheeses. Also featured are organic cold cuts of every sort both vegetarian and meat. They have a special feature called a cheeseboard and you can order for 1 or 2 people. It includes 6 selections of cheeses, fresh roll or bread, soup and a drink along with 3 side orders. This seemed like a good and healthy value. Their side dishes are not to be found elsewhere; crucnchy cole slaw with artichoke in it, special macoroni and cheese (1 square weighs over a pound) and a huge variety of non traditional, homemade concoctions.

DELI WITH WINE ROOM TO RIGHT
As I started into the grocery section I noticed a wonderful little gift section with every kind of gadget known to man from tea steepers, filters to coffee mugs and garlic presses.

Then I hit the produce section full of wonderful, large and diverse selections of fruits and veggies.

Then on to the meat section to buy local chopped meat and dog bones. They have locally produced beef as well as veggies, fruit, and eggs. It also is the only place where I can still get good meaty bones for my dogs.

I then went to accomplish my original task in the grocery department and found 4 different selections of organic, unpopped popcorn including a black corn and a red corn. Pleased with my selections I headed to the bulk food section where I found yet another type of yellow corn. I weighed a healthy portion out and proceeded to the cafe area.

The cafe is a wonderful place. The bakery is near by and you can select fresh bread for sandwichs or just enjoy a hearty cup of soup with a roll. Coffee in every flavor and type is available by the cup and then there is the prepared food section where you can buy vegetarian meatloaf, a variety of chicken breast dishes, lasagne and fish selections as well as side orders. There is ample seating to enjoy your meal.

The complex where the store is located includes a Rock Creek Outfitters as well as several unique boutique type shops. If you are in the area and you enjoy buying organic and want a huge selection of products you owe it to yourself to stop in at the Greenlife Grocery!

Gayle, you are so lucky. I wish we had a Greenlife Grocery here in Savannah. I would go nuts in there with so much healthy food to eat!
