My business plan this year has been comprised for the most part of building my real estate blogging website, Bucking the Real Estate Trend. It has been an adventure as well as an education for me, not only with regard to blogging, but especially as a great excuse to get out and learn about Haywood County since I have just completed my second full year here. The majority of my business now comes from my own website, as well as here on Active Rain... not through my affiliation.

The website Real Estate Radio USA is chock full of real estate information for realtors as well as the public. Today's article (link below) features a great slide show presentation. If you are a realtor wondering what to do during the 'down' time, this article and slide show may be of interest to you.

Yet Only 1-2% Of Realtors Have A Blog Presence?

"Obsolescence, lack of technological prowess, ignorance, sloth, …why is it that in a sector of the economy that direly needs professional competence that so many in the industry not only lack the skills to succeed, but exacerbate their inefficiency by deliberately choosing NOT to evolve? Just what does it say about the real estate agent “profession?” Just what does it all mean?"

The link below will take you to a Trend Map for 2009, created by Future Exploration Network’s Chief Futurist Richard Watson, featured on Ross Dawson's blog. (Thanks Pat Kitano!)

Excellent article! I would say all real estate agents should read it, but knowing how effective blogging is, I'll only say that all real estate agents outside of Dallas/Fort Worth should read it. Sometimes I want to keep great information to myself.

Of course I'm kidding. I'll be sending your post to all of the agents in our office...and beyond.

I only began my blog about a month ago. You've inspired me to write even more on it.

Ooo goody. Big words! LOL. My daughter says I use too many big words. Since I already explained this one to you, my response to that is "meh". =P  Now nobody else will know what I'm talking about.

For those of us that blog, it is an advantage that so many agents don't.  It is like when I first got my own website....I was the first in our market.  It is hard to stay ahead of the pack unless you keep changing what you are going.

That was great, Susie! Thanks for sharing.  By choosing to stay in the dak ages, those agents also choose their own demise.  How sad for them, huh?

This is such a two-edged sword kind of topic.  On the one hand, you realize that agents who don't get with the program are getting left in the dust.  You can't help but feel sorry for some of the ones who swear they'll never use the Internet for business.  On the other hand, that means there's more of the pie for you to eat for having the guts to jump in there and give blogging and social networking a try!  I'm so glad we jumped in!
