Royal Thai Restaurant

Each Saturday, I have been writing about a recent dining experience and lastely I have been dining at a few "old favorite" places.  Last night it was Royal Thai, located at 5500 Greenville Avenue in Dallas.

I am a huge fan of Thai cuisine and Royal Thai is definitely a favorite here in Dallas.  I had dinner with my friend Suzanne last night and we had a great meal there.  We began our meal by splitting an appetizer of Tulip Dumplings.  I love these dumplings because, first of all, they atre delicious, but also because they use a thin noodle wrapper and they are more about the nicely seasoned shrimp, pork and water chestnut filling than the wrapper.

For entrée's, Suzanne went with the tried and true Pad Thai, described on the menus as "traditional Thai fried noodles with shrimp, bean sprouts, egg, onion, tofu, peanut & tamarind sauce", while I opted for the Lahd Na.  Lahd Na is stir-fried flat noodles topped with broccoli and either beef, pork or chicken in brown sauce.  Both entrees were prepared excellently and served hot.

Another wonderful part of the Royal Thai dining experience is the atmosphere.  Although definitely a reasonably priced restaurant, Royal Thai feels more upscale than many others and the polite and attentive service also leaves you with that feeling.

Without a doubt, Royal Thai is a great meal, at a reasonable price that any king or queen would enjoy... and without having to borrow against the crown jewels!

Hi Steve.  Thai is good and usually pretty reasonable.

Lots of sauces, too.

Great localism post.

Steve,

You are becoming the weekly food reviewer.  I expect to be reading about you in Alan Perppards column any day now.  There is a great Thai place on Bryan Street just a few blocks from where we live.
