What a beautiful sight to see. Right now here in the Portland/Vancouver area we have 7 inches of snow.
Myrl - this is an absolutely beautiful photograph of our California coastline! There is nothing better than a trip up (or down) the California coast.
Happy holidays!
Very nice shot. Looks like the perfect time of day. Is it dawn? I love pink clouds.
Your photo reminds me of why I love living in northern California! Coast, mountains, lakes, rivers, valleys...we have it all within 1 1/2 hours of driving! But...isn't it Saturday? ;)
Wow, amazing picture. You certainly have some fantastic landscapes in California but this one is great.
Myrl, great picture though. I need some like this - we have several inches of snow here in Newcastle which looks like is not going away .
Myrl - oh, that is so beautiful. I just love water and not living near it I miss it. ~Rita
Hi Myrl, certainly is breath taking, wished I was there! Thanks for posting such a great photo.
Jean -I'm very fond of the Carmel to Monterey coast corridor also (17 Mile Drive). When things get a little stressful, I can make the drive over there, and immediately feel calm.
Peter - The picture was taken a couple years back, in about September.
Patti -We are having our share of snow in the Sierra Nevadas right now. The area around Lake Tahoe is gorgeous.
Fran - I must agree. The California coast is gorgeous.
Doreen - I'm a pink cloud lover too.
Paula -Well you gave away our little Sacramento secret :-) Because there is a 2 hour difference in time, between us here in California, and where the ActiveRain servers are, we can post at 10:03 pm Saturday, and it will be posted as 12:03 am Sunday. I had a busy day with the grand-kids yesterday, and anticipated I'd sleep in this morning (which I didn't), so posted before I went to bed last night. Paula - You are absolutely right - Sacramento is lucky to be nestled just 100 miles between the gorgeous Pacific Coast, San Francisco, and Lake Tahoe, Sierra Nevadas.
Kevin - We sometimes take for granted some of the delightful beauty we have in California. As I shuffle through life, I appreciate it more and more.
Martin - I have a long-haired, pure white American Eskimo dog, who is absolutely afraid of snow. I was thinking of coming up your way to "acclimate" him. This breed is supposed to descend from snow country - go figure his fear:-)
Rita - I'm a water lover too. When I'm exhausted and tired, I head for the ocean. If I have energy to burn, I go to the mountains.
Myrl,
This is another great shot of the California coastline. I love the richness of the colors. :)
Steve
Gary - I wish I was there too. It's currently raining here in Sacramento.
Steve - It does appear I'm stuck in California coastline mode these last few weeks.
Hi Myrl, this is so beautiful! The California coast is so different than our Gulf of Mexico beaches.
Merry Christmas!
I love it when there is a bit of greenery in these coastal shots. So often they are of jagged rocks and steely cold waters. Beautiful photo, Myrl.
Ann - I haven't been to the Gulf of Mexico, but have a friend that lives in Sarasota, Florida. She has sent me pictures of the beaches there, and they are stunning.
Elizabeth - Ah yes, those steely cold waters. I remember being a kid of about 6. My mom and dad made a drive to San Francisco one weekend, so we could do the beach near the old Cliff House in San Francisco. I had not ever tested the ocean's waters. I stripped my clothes down to my swim suit, and took a wild run from the road, straight across the beach, and down to the waves with absolutely NO FEAR. Then, I stopped short - about waste deep in the surf. I stood in frozen stunned silence. My mother talked about my expression for years :-)
What an absolutely beautiful scene and photo! I've never heard of Speechless Sunday, but it sure works for me! Thanks for commenting on my blog!
Hi Myrl,
I love this picture!! It has a beautiful mix of landscape, mountain, sky,and water. Great job!!
Janna - When I first discovered Steve Hoffacker had created the "Speechless Sunday" group, I thought what a delightfully reverant idea. Every human being shuffling across the planet, needs a day off, from creating words for blogging material. Sunday is supposed to be a day of rest, to pay tribute to some of the beauty our creator has provided for us. It doesn't get any better than that! When you stop to think about it, "Speechless Sundays" have become a kind of internet cathederal,
Tony - I'm glad you like it. . .Thanks for stopping by!
Jack and Izzy - This part of California is just south of Monterey - Along the Northern-Central California coast.
Actually it looks a lot like the coast of England. I think I still prefer a beach to the cliffs, but they are nice to look at.
