I started listening Seth Godin's most recent book Tribes on audiobook yesterday. For anyone taking social networking on the Internet seriously it is a must read. Today's Idea of the day from this book is "you are not a member of the tribe because you join - you are a member because you particpate". Sounds a lot like life itself. Being a follower doesn't mean being passive - it means being an active member of the tribe and contributing for the good of the tribe. If you understand this concept you'll love this book. If this is a little fuzzy to you then I recommend you run right out and buy it today.

"Tribes" was one of my favorite books of 2008. I don't know if you have read/heard it yet, but "Small is the New Big" is another great book by Seth Godin which gave me some good ideas.

This is probably one of the main things so many miss out on when taking on the social networking scene. When you hear someone say "I've tried that social networking thing, and it just doesn't do anything for me" you can bet that they just don't 'get it.' They're looking for some place to take, take, take, rather than getting involved and giving. Thanks for sharing!
