This is my reflection week. Every year I think about the real reason for the season - giving.

There is so much need this year and if everyone on Active Rain gave one thing to a family in need or adopted a homeless animal we could make such a difference!

Toys for children are in short supply this year. Especially toys for children under three years old and children in the 13-16 year age group. Drop off locations are still open even though today was suppose to be delivery day. Let's all on Active Rain make a special effort to drop off a toy in the next couple of days. Your toy can make one child smile on Christmas.

The food banks are also in short supply. A few cans of food can help feed a family on Christmas day. Clothing is also in short supply. Again, think of the difference we could make.

Of course don't forget the homeless animals. If you or if you know of anyone that will adopt a pet for Christmas, please adopt a pet from a shelter or encourage others to do so. There are some wonderful pets without homes and even more now with the downturn in the economy. The love a little shelter animal will return for years to come is a huge reward.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Linda, you are so right! We donated to Toys for Tots. Cute pics as well.

Thanks for caring! If everyone on AR did one little donation we could make a difference.

Animals are homeless too!! I am a horse person and I just heard this week that someone went into TSC and left their empty horse trailer out in the parking lot.  When they came out, there was a registered Arab with the papers taped to the door and the names blocked out.  You can't give a horse away here.  I pray that I am not in that situation!!  But I feel for the people who are!!

I think its always a good thing to think about others.  Thanks for the friendly reminder.  My daughter (at the age of 11) is always reminding us of animals that do not have a home.  if it were up to her, we would bring them all home.  Luckily, its not her choice.  We still try to support where we can.
