Hey, Tammy. I am not quite sure to say I hope you had fun or I am sorry that you van broke down. Anyway, Merry Christmas, Jim
Did you make him ride like that all the way home!
Cheaper than a tow truck!
Take your prized possessions on vacation too!
Okay, I get that the van broke down. You bought so much stuff on vacation, you needed to rent a uhaul to get it all back and thn had to tow your car!
The vacation was to New Orleans the summer of 05, in fact just weeks before Katrina. We stayed at a really swanky place for a long weekend and on Sunday were headed home. It was about 5 p.m. on a Sunday when my engine light came on. Stopped on the side of the road and long story short it seems that when our van was being parked it had been bottomed out in the parking deck and put a small hairline crack in the oil pan... ah when the oil got hot it ran out. On Sunday at 5 p.m. there was NOTHING we could do but get towed to a local hotel and wait for Monday morning. Monday after the taxi ride from hell, the go round at U-Haul, the winch at Sam's Wholesale and the nice guys who helped us load the van... we drove an empty U-Haul truck pulling our dead car home. If I had to do it over again I would have left it beside the road and taken a taxi to the airport.
My life is an adventure.
That does not look like a fun vacation at the end. I hope you enjoyed the beginning and middle-Dinah Lee
I'll have to write a "members only" post about this experience. I know I scared the heck out of some people that day. I was a crazy lady part of the day. But all in all the vacation was fantastic.
Some people will do anything to keep miles off their vehicles before the lease runs out !!!!
OH Rick,
That is SOOOO far from me. That little mini van was paid for and now I'm in the middle of the "mortgage" for my Highlander. It just kills me that I pay more for a car these days than I did my first home in the 80's. (you know ... I'm becoming my parents)
Okay-I know it was a while ago, but my take is: That white mini-van you're looking at usually has the number 53 and flames painted on it, and it's taken no less than 2nd place (ever) in any of the races it has ever been in. It would usually also be on the trailer of a semi, but the driver is opting to be greener and use less fuel for traveling between the races, so they've switched to a U-Haul truck. :)
