Heard of Realtysoft through Activerain? I have been working with them to design my website (www.stephaniejacques.com), after months and months of looking and pricing out various potential site designers and hosts.

Realtysoft offered me some of the key features I was looking for, and here they were:

  1. Affordable
  2. No start up fees
  3. Great customer service
  4. Assistance with setting up the site
  5. Simplicity
  6. Month to month VS. lengthy contracts
  7. Ability to add the newest social media tools
  8. Domain name included for free.

So with Realtysoft, Travis helped me start up my account and manage the initial setup. A customer service rep has helped me with any other questions, and I still have work to do but the basic site is working nicely for me by reaching out to local folks who are primarily my target.

I signed up for a one year contract, though had a great price for just a month to month if I wanted it. I figured the discount for one year would give me time to get some measures on  the activity and some experience time with it.

I have been able to modify it very simply, and have added a Youtube video of my lot listing on it to experiment with promoting my listings in this fashion.

For anyone thinking of trying out a website, try Realtysoft. If you find this article helpful or like the feedback i'm providing you, please tell them Stephanie Jacques referred you.

Enjoy and post your website to me so I can see it!
I'd appreciate your feedback as well. Some of you have really fabulous sites and I'd love to hear from you on how to improve mine.

Anyone know how to use google analytics?

Stephanie Jacques

Your website looks spectacular! I'm very impressed. I am re-thinking mine that was set up through Navica...

Stephanie - What exactly are you looking to learn about Google Analytics?  The installation or the use of the data it feeds back to you?

Your website looks great.  You may want to make your "about me" is more personal and includes things that buyers and sellers can identify with on a more personal basis.

I will have to check themo ut and your website to see the kind of work that they do. I generally dont care for templated sites, but sounds good.

Stephanie,

There are many companies that do that for realtors, and no matter what they say, when you can do it cheap, that means that the sites are cookie cutters, and it shows. Yesl they may look great, but a really good site is money and money and money.

Again, not that you need to spend a lot, but as long as you understand that yo are not getting much from any of these services, that's fine.

If I could only be able to order one for me from great guys, I would be happy.

Dear Stephanie,

Google analytics are pretty simple to use.  You sign up through http://www.google.com/analytics and then set up a profile for your site (it will take you through the process).  Once you have your profile set up, you can get a code to add to your website.  Go into the HTML view of your site and drop the entire code script into your page using the cut and paste function.  Drop it in right before the "/body" tag which is usually right before the end of the page.  (There may be some footer info after it, but it's close.)  Then you wait.

You'll need a few months of data to establish a baseline of traffic - perhaps more since you're starting a new site,  If you still have access to your old site, don't forget to put 401 redirects from your old pages to your new ones so that you don't lose the benefit of your old SEO.  And if your new site comes with a new URL, don't forget to register your URL with DMOZ.com and link to your site from all of your public profiles.  This will cause your site to get indexed faster and get you traffic faster.

Once your google analytics are up, you'll want to start looking at the numbers.  Check to see what blog posts yielded what kind of traffic (you'll have to compare by dates and those clicking through from Active Rain).  Google will tell you what the "referring sites" are, so that you know where people are coming from.  Basically, you're shooting for more of what makes people come to you.

You can also set up "conversion goals" which registers how many times people actually do what you want them to do when they are on your site.  (I.E. do you want them to fill out a "contact us" form or order a white paper, etc.)  And, you can use analytics to test different pages to see which ones convert better.  This is what marketers call A/B Testing.

Whew - I've got so much more to tell you about this.  There's no way I can get it all in here.  Clearly, I need to do a podcast on this topic.  I'll let you know when I do.  Best of luck with your new site!

Nice site. It seems to have lots of info, but everything is well organized so it doesn't overwhelm you. I like that the video/blog/news feeds are right out there on the front page. This allows you to update the content of the site regularly and simply. One question: I don't see a place on the home page for you to login and make changes to the site - if you want to change the site, does Realtysoft have to do this for you, or is there a separate admin site where you can make changes yourself?

You write about your site BUT WHERE IS IT?  I would have preferred to see your accomplishment not an advert for RealtySoft!

Congratulations on a nice site.  We went with Z57 a few months ago and they also did a fantastic job.  Kelle Sparta gave you a great tip, it is wonderful to see the amount of traffic you receive.  Congrat's and all the the best!

Realtysoft does a nice job on their sites and their IDX tools rock!  I am working with them on a couple projects for our AR members right now.  Thanks for sharing this post.  If you need some assistance with Google Analytics, let me know, I'd be happy to help you out if I can.  My number and email are on my profile page.  Happy Holidays Stephanie.  :-)

Stephanie,

Thank you for your post. It is always good for a realtor to share anything good that she has found that might be of interest to others. In this day and age, you need to have at least one good website. Of couse, Active Rain is good for communicating thoughts and ideas to other realtors. Your main reasons for having a website are lead generation and advertising your listings. I hope you have good luck with your new site.

Your site looks very nice and professional.  Don't pay mind to what others say....if you are happy with it and it serves it's purpose for you...then that's all that matters.  I have one recommendation:  remove your fax #.  It doesn't need to be in the header of your site.  Happy Holidays!

Stephanie, You have the beginnings of a nice site.  I would try to change some of your fonts to a bit better web font and make the search properties link a bit more prominent as that's what everyone wants froma realtor site these days.  Good luck.

Hi Stephanie,

Thanks for sharing your experience.  It's always good to know "what works" and what is a waste of time ... there seems to be an endless supply of gimmicks out there.  I was able to check out your site -- looks great!

Best regards,
Mike

Stephanie,

Your website looks really good.  I bet Realtysoft LOVES Brad Andersohn.  I read Brad's post and contacted Realtysoft myself. I spoke with Travis about a site, but they do not offer IDX in my area yet.  Travis said all I had to do was sign up and it would take approx. six months for them to offer IDX in my area.  I decided to wait, but will definately keep checking back to see if someone else has signed on in MA.  I was pleased to see your post and hear about your experience.  Thank you for sharing.

Stephanie,

Nice website. Also, "Kudos" for blogging & sharing your experiences regarding RealtySoft. The You-tube feature is a wonderful tool to use and expand on. The more you customize your site to your style & business needs, the more you will enjoy it! In regards to RealtySoft...I specifically searched this company here on Active Rain to gain more insight about their products and services. I tend to rely heavily upon my fellow AR peer reviews & experiences. Keep up the great work.  BTW: The more you learn the more addictive this real estate business affair becomes. Take Care & I wish you the best in 2009!
