Buying a home in Avon Lake or surrounding Northeast Ohio can be exciting.  However atttempting to sell your northeast Ohio home on your own can be a risk if not a challenge. I am not one to shot down opportunities/chances one takes but when it comes to selling your won home you need to make good judgment.  There is much more to selling your home than placing an add and planting a "for sale by owner" sign in the front yard.  There is things like disclosures, understanding the closing process, concessions, financing conditions, and so on.  Every time I close a sale I learn something new which is amazing for someone who has as many years as I have in the business.  There is also the legal risk of selling your own home.  You do something that you think is OK may be illegal and can get you in court.  I hear people ending up buying back their own home for much much more than they sold it for.

So what is your solution.  Choose a Realtor. Realtors are licensed professionals in the field.  They play it by the book for the sake of their own license and continued business.  Realtors can provide you with the education and decreased stress in selling your home.  Don't take a chance because someone told you can do it on your own.  If they sold their home on their own they may have been pretty fortunate it worked out smoothly.  There are always bumps along the way but your Realtor deals with the bumps not you and has the education and experience to move through all that still keeping to the closing time lines set.
