Tonight I read, for the hundredth time, a vmail letter my Dad sent home to my Mom while he was serving in France during WW11.
It was written on Christmas Eve and details his dreams of hisChristmas Eve at home.
As always reading this letter brings sobs of sadness for the loneliness he felt, and smiles of pride and thanks for his sacrifice, and for the sacrifice of all servicemen & women who will spend the holidays away from home.
This post is dedicated to the sons, & daughters, spouses, parents & dear ones of ourActiveRain family who are currently serving in the military. Many of these wonderful men and women are deployed overseas and will be away from their loved ones this Christmas.
There are so many more members here who are longing for the ones close to their heart, who can not be home for Christmas.
Lets all take a moment to send out a prayer for the safety & comfort of these honorable & brave servants of our country and let them know they are big in our hearts this season!
Enter your loved ones names, photos greetings prayers in the comments so we can lift them up in our thoughts & prayers & give them all a shout out of Christmas Joy & a big serving of THANKS for all they do for us!
Our Christmas wish for our Military family: Stay safe, stay strong & come home soon!

Hi Ginger, What a lovely keepsake to have and I know the emotions of pride, sadness and love must be overwhelming when you read it. I don't have anyone personally serving in the military but I send greetings, gratitude and prayers for their safe return to all our troops serving all around the world.
BTW did you see the "reblog" I did about going to Xerox site to send a card to troops. A very easy and quick way to send a "thank you".
Ginger, that is just so sweet. The Holiday season can be very tough on military families. I feel very very fortunate that my husband isn't in Iraq this year. We will be apart but will be able to chat by phone and cam unlike some that are "manning that wall".
I am always so amazed at the out pouring of love and prayers by Americans to our service members. Thanks!
I am blessed that ALL of my family is here with me this Christmas...my family is finally complete. A few days ago, I realized that there is nothing I desire...I have been blessed so much. So...instead of taking anything...I just want to share the blessings I've been giving.
This is a beautiful tribute, Ginger! I lift these families up to The Father and ask His mercies to follow them wherever they are.
Also...I want to tell you how very much your friendship has meant to me this past year. YOU are a GIFT! May your Christmas be filled with peace and joy! ~GBU~
Girl, you are on a roll, this is another of my favorite songs. Thank you so much for the mention. I have never heard that song except by Amy Grant. I will never listen to it again in the same way. (((hugs)))
God Bless all the kids in the military who are far from home, may they have the peace that surpasses all understanding in their hearts.
Elizabeth, Right back at ya Sis. The Lord has given me a wonderful gift of your precious friendship! Hope we get to meet this year! I know your day was so blessed, especially with your beautiful new additions to your familt this year!
Ginger and Roger - Thanks for this post. My 2 son in laws are in the military, one Army, one Navy. Both are going back over this spring, and I hear there is some new attack somewhere that is still top secret. Any prayers for them will be much appreciated.
