Yesterday was a bone-chilling MINUS 6°, with a wind-chill of  NEGATIVE 25° BELOW ZERO, here in the Chicago area... we have a bout 6-8 inches of the white stuff on the ground... (okay, in the city, it's now more like the grey and dirty stuff... but give a brutha a break... it's the holidays!!)

(for those of you in non-wind-chill states, that's when the weather is cold, but the wind is blowing so hard, that the -6 degrees, FEELS on the skin like -25°...  and it's such a common occurrence, that they call it the wind-chill factor on the nightly weather report... oh, and by the way... for those of you, right now, reading this from "non-wind-chill areas".... pttthhhhp!.... sorry, couldn't help myself.)

So... where was I? .... Oh, yes, ... yesterday was -6°.... but today... is a balmy 11 degrees ABOVE zero... and the wind isn't particularly active... so it FEELS like 11 !!  That's an effective increase of 36 degrees!!!

We're having a freaking heat wave here, in Chi-town!!  Shorts and T-shirts weather.  Okay the dancing doll may be a little under dressed, but it feels almost tropical. (yeah, I'm not convincing myself either... but with the sun shining today... it almost felt warm).

- heavy sigh -

Wow,

Since it has finally got extremely cold for here and the temperature has dropped to 40 degrees tonight, I can't fathom this kind of cold (and of course we never have snow).

Can you move your fingers and toes?

Alan, I stopped briefly in the windy city yesterday only to find my flight to Seattle canceled until Wednesday.  Couldn't bear the thought of spending another 5 minutes at minus 30 so got a flight out to San Francisco:)  Sorry about that----but I "did my time" for 20 years in Syracuse NY!

Charles, if you did time in Syracuse (minimum or maximum security?).. then you've done enough time.

Alan - We feel it here in Ohio too.  I grew up on Lake Erie and understand "wind chill" and "lake effect" very well.  The winters seem to be longer than other areas and those of us who can't escape to the sunny south have learned to endure.

Jon... you're  talking to a fellow buckeye... (from Canton)... Ohio is a great place "to be from".  Yes, Erie is no stranger to wind chill and lake-effect snow.

I love living in an area with a true four seasons.... the problem I have with Chicago, is that we only have two weeks of Spring, two weeks of Fall, the summers are too short and humid, and the winter lasts foooooreever.  (cold, grey, dirty snow, and potholes)

Although there are those who claim that Chicago only has two seasons... Winter & Road Construction.

Alan. We get your weather the next day, as the jet-stream brings your crap east, but in addition to the below zero weather we have also been blessed with much more snow than your area. We have gotten more than three feet in December so far, and the snow banks are over our heads..white Christmas (yeah cool..big deal it's white for 6 months here)..Oh  right Happy Holidays..Ho Ho Ho!!

Put on a sweater and stop complaining!!!

Just kidding my friend.....Those temperatures are inhumane!

My sister lives in Madison, WI and I continuously send her the weather report from down here.

Where you live is beautiful...but too darned cold!

Steve... but at least you have skiing... all we have is bumper cars!...

we had another 3 inches today... and are expecting another 3 inches tomorrow

Craig... sending your weather report to your sister is cruel and unusual.... (well, I guess it's usual, but it's still cruel)

Are you crazy man! Get thee out of there! One of the main reasons I left NY was because of the winters.

Merry Christmas!

Bruce, I've spent a lot of time in Southern California... other than beautiful vistas, wonderful climate, the fantastic pacific ocean, beautiful people, great cars, sunshine-sunshine, great cars on the road, celebrity sightings... er... I'm sorry... what were talking about?

Caren, I know... we're supposed to be up in the 40s' 50's later next week.... weird, eh?

Richard... that's why we have so many teams... throw enough at the wall... one of them has to do well.

Tony... I think if you've been following my blog, you know that I AM a crazy man!!
