Flip Video ~ Now With Wide Angle Option

By
Real Estate Agent with Westbrook Realty Broker-Owner

I have been taking videos of my listings and wanted an option to widen the

view. I wasn't happy with the narrow picture, especially since I have a wide

angle lens on my regular camera.

I think I found an option. It is called Magnetic Lenses. This is my first

video of the difference they make. Watch the video.

These still pictures below, also show the difference.

The process is so simple, you just glue a small metal ring to the front

of the camera and then the lens clips on using a magnet. I used the

smallest sized lens and it worked great. I hope this is helpful. I now

have to redo all my videos on my listings.

I hope it is dramatic as my first test.

At about $40 + shipping, this would make a great Christmas present for the

techno geek on your Christmas list.

We have been using the magnetic lenses and for the price, you can't beat them.  Ours is on our standard camera.  While the photos still need a little adjusting, the difference is impressive!

Mike: Yes the issue is the lens size if they are the same the lens comes with 3 rings that adhere to the front of the camera but they need to be the same size . Look at the web site it has a list of cameras that fit the magnetic lens and which size you need for which camera. Good luck Terry

That is a neat way to make a cheap little Flip have a wider angle lens.

Terry:  Thanks for the tip about the magnetic lens-I had heard of them but bought a Panasonic Lumix for it's wider angle capability because Jeff Turner said it was the best within it's price range.  I have a camcorder and purchased a wide angle lens for that.  However, I find it handier to use my Flip most of the time.  I went to the site and put in Flip for the camera and it came up blank.  It seems like a small lens compared to a camera - I have the Flip ultra - will it work.  Plus, your video link did not take me to a video FYI.

Cathy, They did not have the flip listed but the small lens is the right one for the flip. I find it  much easier to use and the quality is fine. Good luck with your videos.

Pat, I hope you try it, we like the quality and the size. It fits in a pocket, so it can go anywhere.
