Have you helped our Veterans? - Christopher Benedict RE/MAX Main Line

Real Estate Broker/Owner with BIG Realty

When I decided to kick up my marketing last fall, I was pretty certain my phone wasn't going to ring off the hook in November, especially since we were nearing the Thanksgiving holiday.  I needed a listing and I put out the vibe to the Universe to send me a sign, and sure enough the phone rang.  The caller was a client of mine who bought a home in Skippack Pennsylvania a few years ago.  I had worked with a few Veterans before, but never one who had been disabled in the Gulf War.  Matt had lost fingers on both hands when a shell blew up during a misfire.  He showed me the pictures, and it made me remember how thankful I was for the men and women who fight everyday to protect us.

Well, Matt was pretty much fully disabled at this point due to his injuries and he needed to move back to Michigan.  When I went to his home to list it for sale, I knew he was in trouble.  Being disabled, I knew he would not be able to do the basic things to get his home ready.  Imagine you couldn't lift more than 20 lbs?  How would you pack up your home?

But Matt has an can-do attitude, and I knew he would work with me to make sure the home sold, so I took a leap of faith in him, since after all he took a leap of faith in our country.  I hired my guys to come over and help him prepare and paint the home.  That, plus his friends, helped him pack up the property and I was amazed at the transformation.

The home went active on December 26th, the day after Christmas.  Not exactly peak real estate time, right?  Well, the Universe conspired to help my client, and after multiple showings in the first 2 weeks, the home went under contract 17 days after it went up for sale.

Too many times I come across agents in this business who don't want to give up any part of their commission, never realizing the hidden benefits to their generosity.  In this case, I procured a buyer from this home who bought in the same development, and I got to sell their home, too.  The fact that he too was a Veteran didn't hurt.

As more Veterans prepare to come back to the United States, will you be prepared to serve them the way they have served our country?

Thank you Matt, for protecting my family and our way of life.  I wish you the best in Michigan!
