Gas prices are going up so fast I can hardly keep track. We know that gas prices affect just about everything we purchase. The cost of transportation affects the produce and other foods we buy in the grocery store, airplane tickets, even the cost of having a pizza delivered has to go up. In our line of work we can't help but to spend a good part of our day in the car!

Below are some of my favorite websites for finding cheap gas.

http://www.gasbuddy.com/  This site was of no use to me here in Vancouver, WA, but it could be a great source for some other areas. The great thing about this site is that when you click on your state it refers you to multiple websites to choose from. Prices seem to be updated more often than the 48 hours they promised on one site, so it seems fairly reliable.

http://autos.msn.com/everyday/gasstations.aspx?zip=&src=Netx This was my favorite site as it was easy to use, provided a map and claimed to update prices every night so you can check first thing in the morning before you head out.

http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/gasprices/states/index.shtml This one is tied for placement as my favorite site. When you click on your state you are given multiple sites to choose from organized by major cities in your state. The website for my city not only provided prices for regular, plus and premium, but marked the best price by color so it was easy to find who had the lowest price for each grade.

http://www.motortrend.com/gas_prices/ I had to click through state, county and city to finally get to my current gas prices, but the site also lists all three grades and uses colors to easily point out the best prices. The best part was that it gave the date and time of the last update so you know you are getting the most up-to-date info!

Also, don't forget to check your local grocery stores such as Fred Meyer, Safeway, Albertsons and Vons who might be offering fuel discounts with a minimum purchase as well as your local warehouses such as Costco who usually offer very competitive fuel rates. Good luck to all of you!

Don't blame you for checking for cheap gas.  It can really hurt if you have alot of showings.  And I understand from my daughter in Portland, that you are over $3.00/gal?  We in fly-over country are chaffing at @2,69

Joan - It's killing me! I have a fairly fuel efficient car, but it doesn't make it any easier when I see the prices jumping as much as $0.10 every couple of days! Why is the west coast so much higher?

I don't have a fuel efficient car.  I average 18-20 mpg.  Hasn't hit me hard enough to where I change my life....but if gas got to 4 or 5 $....

I have a client who sells service at a Volkswagon dealer. She tells me that a very popular item these days is a diesel vehicle conversion that can run on cooking oil. $1 a gallon at the Costco. The conversion is approximatly $2500 (done professionally) or about $1000 or so DYI. Take a look at: http://www.frybrid.com/  Take that Exxon!

Prices in the Las Vegas valley are hovering right around $3.00 per gallon. If we can save just a few dollars each fill-up, that could add up to a couple of hundred dollars a year! Thanks for the links.

Kaushik - Where I am, we're just 50 cents shy of the $4 mark - a little scary sometimes!

David - My husband is a diesel mechanic and wants to buy a new diesel truck so that he can buy a home biodiesel set-up. There are people out there who do it and make it work. Thatnks for the info!

John - I like to think in terms of my marketing budget, because unfortunately that will be one of the first places I cut in my household. A couple bucks can be 6 more stamps....

here in Ontario Canada.....we are paying $1.05/litre = about $0.93 US/litre

I believe that works out to something like $3.75 / US gallon.  Some places in New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island are paying the equiv of $4.25/ US gallon.....

oh.....feel the squeeze!

In Seattle, we're up to $3.39 for regular unleaded.  The news reported some gas stations raised the prices up to $.19 overnight and the State is "looking" into it.  Hmm...some of those sites have outdated prices but they are certainly a useful resource.  Tomorrow I'll be near a station with $3.19/gallon...think I'll need to fill up.

Calvin - it's really just outrageous. I'm sure here in WA we aren't too far behind you!

Ben - I'm sure they are..... I'll believe it when I see it! We are slightly lower here, but probably not for long. The bummer with those sights is that they really could jump overnight, but I'll take all the help I can get!
