Earlier this month, The Woman's Club of San Antonio, opened the historic Woodward House to the public to celebrate their annual "Christmas In The Mansion".

The 9,000 sq.ft. house was decorated from head to toe in the traditional Christmas Red & Green.  This year's theme was Gingerbread.  Thanks to many Club Members loaning personal collections of Gingerbread decorations and purchasing additional decorations using that theme, members of the club spent a good part of a week preparing the house for the Annual Event.

Here are some photos taken throughout the week of the event.   Next year's "Christmas In The Mansion" is scheduled for December 1st through December 4th.  Hope to see you there!  Next year's theme hasn't been finalized yet - but I'll announce it once it has been decided.

Hi Judi - That's a great slideshow, loved the pictures.  One of my best friends got married @ The Woodward House in February of this year.  It was truly lovely and a great spot for the wedding as well as the reception.  KM

Kristin, thanks for stopping by.  The Woodward House is beautiful.  I'm House & Grounds Chairman of The Woman's Club until June of 2010!!  It's a big job, but I love the house so I don't mind being there a little more than normal.  Lots of people rent the house for weddings, photography sessions, receptions, meetings and parties.  The calendar stays pretty ful.  The House Manager told me today, she has had several people book events at the house in 2010!

Gary, there's quite a history to the house.  The house was built over a 2 year period 1904-1905 by Mr. David Woodward.  The Woman's Club of San Antonio purchased the house in 1926 from his wife, May Woodward.  It has 9,000 square feet.  As 4th Vice-President of The Woman's Club from 2008 to 2010, I'm in charge of caring for the house & grounds (along with my committee).  We have a house manager who oversees the day to day running of the house & scheduling events and making sure everything is set-up properly for the events.

Hi Trey, thank you.  We do love our beautiful house and take pride in the history and architecture of it.  If you and your lovely wife make it down to San Antonio over the holidays (I remember you mentioning that you might), I'd be happy to give y'all a personal tour of The Woodward House.

Hi Monica, thanks for stopping.  The Woodward House is a popular place for weddings and receptions.  Almost everyone falls in love with the house.  I don't remember the theme for last year's Christmas In The Mansion but some of our decorations are the same almost every year -- we just fill in with whatever the theme is.  As House & Grounds Chairman, I get to decide on next year's theme!!!  :)  I have several in mind and will discuss them with my committe and we'll decide which one we think will work with what we already have.

Judi, I'm late to the blog but stopped by to tell you it's a beautiful video and I would have loved to see this house!  It's also exciting to read that you'll help decide the theme for next year--I think you'll have a wonderful time with it!  Blessings.

Judi I have really gotten behind. The Mansion is absolutely beautiful. I'm sorry to be so late since I kept bugging you about the photo's after The Mansion was all decorated. You are sure getting good with making those video's. The hedge that leads up to the stairs just makes The Mansion perfect and inviting.

Good Job Judi.

Hey Carl, you've been busy with inspections and celebrating the holidays, your Mom's b'day, and hunting with your son's and grandsons -- so you're forgiven.  :)

Glad you stopped by though -- the house is beautiful all year long -- but she sure looks pretty when she's dressed for Christmas!  :)
