Thoughts on this Christmas Eve Morning

I woke up this Christmas Eve morning to see a peaceful snow falling.  I'm here enjoying my coffee in the quiet until my three sons ages 6-13 wake up.  I know that the chaos will begin, but it makes me so happy that they are so excited.  You see, they really don't care that Mom didn't make as much money as years past.  Christmas is going to be much simpler, and now... I'M EXCITED.  This is probably the best Christmas season that I have experienced.  My loved ones are getting less than they normally receive, but we have all cut back on our spending.  The situation of the economy can make us feel fearful, or we can see it as an opportunity to live more simply.   I see gorgeous homes everday with custom kitchens that feature granite countertops, custom cabinets and stainless steel appliances.  For the longest time, I really thought if I had a bigger home with all of these things I would be happier.  Now I know that these things would not make me happier, probably just more stressed out trying to pay for it.  Instead, I'm thankful for my 1990's tile, oak cabinets, and black appliances.  Besides, my boys don't care whether or not our kitchen is modern or outdated.  All they care about is that there is food in it, and Mom ISN'T stressed out. So, as I sit here and watch the snow fall, I feel nothing but thankfulness because I have a warm home, food in my pantry, and most importantly friends, and family that love me.

Here is wishing that you all find peace and happiness this holiday season.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
