Hey AR-ers: I thought it might be fun to share some  "strange" events we've experienced in our Real Estate career. For instance on showings, agent tours, writing contracts, etc.  I'll start.

Oregon 2003: A client called me one morning and asked to preview a home I had e-mailed him. I said sure and we agreed to meet at the house in question.  I printed out the listing info and read under "confidential" remarks: Use caution while showing. Tenant has alligator in home.

I thought this was a joke, but I called the Realtor just the same. She assured me there was, indeed, an alligator in the home but that it was kept in a big aquarium.

At the home, my client standing behind me, I took the key out of the lock box and s-l-o-w-l-y opened the front door. I looked to the left, looked to the right and out of the corner of my eye I saw something moving on the fireplace mantle. THE ALLIGATOR was stretched out across the mantle, staring at me and I at him.

I turned and asked my client IF he wanted to go in? He said yes and I said, you're on your own, but I'll watch your back--from this door.

Need-less-to-say, I did NOT sell that house. Thankfully!

That is a funny story. I would not have gone into the home either! I have a problem with very large dogs. I hate to show a home where the home owner lets them roam free during showings. Being just over 5 feet tall, it is inevitable that the dog will jump on me. One time I was showing a home and this big lab knocked me down and started licking my face. You can't really yell at the dog when your client is standing right next to you laughing. good service extends to pets as well!

My client KNEW there was a gator on the mantle....and went ahead to preview the house--while his chicken Realtor watched his back.
