Hampstead NH Christmas houseThe lights came on just in time for these folks.

We don't have a tree this year or any decorations up. I dunno I think I just ran out of time.

So it doesn't much feel like Christmas in my house and that's okay.

It's just the two of us anyway and I know it's Christmas in my heart and that is more important.

I've been very drawn to this house down the street and last night we drove over so I could take this picture.

These folks were without power for awhile during the NH Ice Storm and I wondered if they would be able to decorate their house this year.

They did!  It put me right in the holiday spirit.

Merry Christmas....

Merry Christmas from Jay and Monika

Monika - I am with you on feeling Christmas in your heart.  I did manage to put up a tree, but there are no presents under it.  We are also just the 2 of us.  Thanks for the post and the great pictures.

Monika, WOW talk about going all out.  They did a great job on that house.  Merry Christmas to you and the other Red Sox Fan Jay :) :)

Sue...No presents here either. Christmas is more than gifts or a tree and that I think is very important. Enjoy your Holiday and Merry Christmas to you.

George ...I just love looking at twinkling Christmas lights so I am really glad they got their power back.

Erby...LOL...who said there is no effort...just because there are no decorations? I think Christmas is much more than that. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Hi Monika~ I am with you too.  WHO says we HAVE to do any certain "things"  for Christmas? The only thing I know I have to do is be thankful that Christ was born and be thankful for the blessings I already have!

I don't decorate any more either.  But, my family does - for the little ones mostly.

It's fun to look at trees decorated, but . . . . .  noooooo thanks.

Happy Holidays Monika and Jay!  We didn't decorate either, but it's because our basement (finished basement) flooded and is still not dry yet. And we had to buy a new washer and dryer because the water did something to the ones I had. We have been having a run of bad luck and I just didn't have the strength  (or desire) to decorate. It feels kind of weird, though without any decorations. I usually have Xmas day at my house and this year we are going elsewhere. And as Lenn mentions, its fun to look at but actually a lot of work.

Vickie...After 8 days without power I simply am thankful for power...everything else will have to wait. My heart is decorated as Sally said and that works for me.

Lenn... We'll be going to my sisters house and she will have it all decked out so I'll get my eye candy in.

Oh my gosh Karen! You had a awful year. I sure hope 2009 is better for all of us. How is your daughter doing?

Marti... Thank you so much! Oh my...two weeks without power must have been a nightmare!

Merry Christmas, Monika and Jay. We decorated the inside this year, but it turned cold right after Thanksgiving and we just kept thinking it would get warmer to put the lights on...........not. Oh well, there is always next year and with what you guys went through..........oh my.

Monika, I guess it comes from living in New England! We are all hardy...right?  Glad you have your power back.  My daughter is doing better. She bought herself a miniature dog, a cross bichon and terrier. He is about 4 inches long and will not get any bigger. She carries him in a purse! And he takes up her time and love. Tomorrow will be tough for her and all of us actually. But she will make it because she's very strong. Thanks for asking:)

Hi Monika - I know right when that picture was taken and right where I was sitting, too!  ;-)

I know you'll both have a very nice Christmas, celebrating and cherishing lots of things that we all took for granted not all that long ago.

I wish you both a Merry Christmas with love,
Ann

Thank you Diane. We had a great day..hope yours was awesome as well.

Ann...What gave it away? That silly thing hanging around Jay's neck?  We had a great day with my family and actually talked on Skype with a  web cam to my relatives in Germany. My mom and dad were tickled pink doing it. Merry Christmas Ann!

Moni - It looks like a gingerbread house - I love it. We also did not decorate too much - only a couple things - I guess when there are no kids in the house it doesn't seem to matter so much. We went to Melrose and saw all the lights last night on the way home. Very festive and we didn't have to pay the electric bill! Merry Christmas.

Thanks Judy. My sister had her house all decked out so we got to see all sorts of pretty Christmas decorations.  Did you do the Tea this year??? I kept getting hits on my blog looking for the Victorian tea.

Thank you Linda...Jay is not too crazy about that Santa hat, but he had no choice! LOL

Hi Monika!  I'm a Christmas light lover too!  I love just driving around looking at the lights and oohing and ahhing over them each and every year!  I'm so glad your neighbors got their power back on and were able to lift your spirits this year.  Also, great shot of you and Jay for your Christmas card too!

Hey, what do you use to stamp your photos with your name?  I haven't looked too hard into it but, I love how clear yet, small enough not to be intrusive yours is.

I love visiting houses that are all lite up. We have a few nice ones nearby... some even dance to music. Pretty neat!

Debe... I use Picnik.com to stamp my photos. I love it as you can fade the words so that they blend in a bit. Do you have picnik? It's free but they do have a premium version which I bought.

Monika:  I do use Picnik on occasion but, don't think I have the premium version.  I'll have to give the stamping a shot--I was using it to make the poloroid-look shots with labels on the bottom and really nothing else!

Thanks for letting me know!

Debe... I just use their Text option and create a text box on the photo, I play with it until I like it.
