It is interesting that throwing all that money into salaries still didn't get them into the Series this year.

It is so out of hand.  Now, I have noted that there are radio advertisers here in Chicago who are advertising for Sox Ticks (no thanks) at about $200 for I think 13 games?  They may not be the best seats, but it brings to my attention that the Good Old Past Time might see a little suffering too, as wages are lost by their patrons.   The amount of money that players make is ridiculous. We all deal with it reasonably well when everything is going great, but when others are down and out and losing their homes, it is kind of a slap in the face to them.

Sean,

I find it amusing that there's an almost inverse ratio between players salaries (in all sports) and performance on the field or court. :)

Half a billion dollars spent this off-season and I'm not worried because they have the curse of the A-Rod.

Go Sox!

This is really silly how in our world we pay ball players that much -- it makes it such that no longer can a family take their kids to ball games without it costing a fortune.

Well, it is all about the fans. If fans keep paying all the pricey tickets, they will continue to be paid like that.

Sports players get obscene salaries while other people lose their homes or have nothing to eat! I'll never understand it!

Sean,

It really makes you wonder if a salary cap isn't the way to go.  I love the BoSox who I know are the second biggest offender in this catagory but I would rather see parity.  The game is about players and coaches trying to get that legal edge through hard work and commitment and teams trying to make the best fits not buying World Series Championships....
