Compete.com is a great website that allows you to get free tracking information on your rivals. This is a good way to find out who your market leaders are when it comes to Unique Visitors to a website.  Discover who is leading the race within your local market. Then go to their website and learn what they are doing and not doing so that you can improve your SEO.

Also, find out who are the market leaders when it comes to your Vertical Markets. Example - MovingHelp.com is in the Moving Labor business so one of our vertical markets is the Real Estate market. We are always looking at collaborating with others and developing partnerships. During hard economic times, we need to remember the words of Ben Franklin ---

"We must all hang together, or assuredly we will all hang separately."

Let us learn from each other and make each other stronger in order to help lead this country on the road to recovery in 2009.

As much as I am on the web and monitoring statistics I had never heard of compete.com. Thanks for sharing.

Vickie - I would not say the numbers on compete.com are exact, but it gives you a very good idea of how other companies are doing when it comes to internet traffic to their sites.

Its interesting to see why other sites rank but I try to work on my own site and getting it up there first. Its hard to know why exactly a site ranks but there are ways to guess.

Cecily - Just consider it another tool that can give you some insight into how much traffic some people are getting on their site.

Eau - Keep in mind this is not a site that RANKS other sites. It just shows how many Unique Visitors other sites are getting.

Kari - I love the site, because now I don't have to guess at who is doing well at getting more visitors. Also, I used it on AR members to see how some of the top bloggers are doing when it comes to visitors to their sites.

Pam - Nice to see my good friend from the cold country. My BSU team let me down. Cough, cough...did I just say "My BSU team?" Anyway, you are going to love this site. Again, not an exact science on the numbers, but gives you a pretty good idea of how successful others are at driving visitors to their sites.
