Hello Everyone,

Spokane Real Estate Expert - Ross Quintana Well, In Spokane Washington we have been getting drowned in snow over the last few weeks and I drive by homes for sale and there is no access to the homes and you can barely see the signs. So what can you do to get your homes sold in the winter. Here are 3 things you can do to get your home sold in the winter.

Is it for Sale or is it a snow berm

1. Keep walkways shoveled. If people can't get into the home they will not show it. When all the other homes are sitting covered with snow, get out and shovel your listings or have the homeowners do it. Remember this is just one more way to beat up on the competition that may not be managing their listings in the winter.

2. Keep the sign visible. Go out and dust off and reposition your signs higher so they are visable, when everything is white a well placed sign really pops. You may or may not want to keep brochures in the box in snowy weather, if you do make sure there is a path shoveled to the box so people can get to them. No one is going to trek in 3 feet of snow to get a flyer.

3. Freshen Up Internet Tours. People are still looking online when the weather gets worse they will pre shop online until the weather gets better. Take a moment and make sure your pictures are great and freshen up your tours with more info.

Do these three things and you will help your home sell first when buyers come out of the snow. If you're thinking of selling your home soon or this Spring, call us and get our free consultation to learn the best timing and strategies to get it sold in these tough markets. 509-362-1966 or visit our Spokane Real Estate Website.

Ross...good tips for where ever you are...in the south add MOW THE LAWN! (holds true during the summer months in the north!)

Ross:  Keeping the walkways shoveled and signs visible is a great reminder.  I end up doing mainly de-icing on my vacant properties in the winter.  We don't get a lot of snow, but it only take a little ice for someone to bust their rear end.

Spokane Real Estate Expert - Ross Quintana Yeah it's the little things sometimes that make the difference,a nd it's all about doing what others aren't to make your homes stand out. When we get to a point when people are doing less this is a great time to do more.

Ross, this is a great list. I read one article where the Realtor and the customer had to wade through 7 inches of snow to get to the front door only to find that the lock box was frozen shut.

Ross,

Too many times in heavy snow the sign gets buried and not seen for weeks....CRAZY!!!!!

Ross,

Throw in a nice new shiny snow blower. I'm sure that will close the deal...at least in our neck of the woods!

I appreciate the list.  I hope other realtors in Elkhart County see it.  Last year I had to "stomp" my way to the door to make a path for my clients to get to the door.  Then the stoop was iced over.  It was liability 101.

Yes, really it's doing what your competition isn't and also when everything is covered by snow the dusted off signs show up so it's great advertising. The snow is melting here so it's also time to get fresh brochures out and make sure your sign doesn't look like it should be taken to the garbage.
