The Things Kids Say...

This picture might seem strange after you read the title of my post, but I assure you it is not.

This Picture reminds me of Christmas 2001. My daughter Megan was 5, and she was beginning to show interest in what we were watching on the news. As is common during the Holidays, women have been seen wearing fluffy fur coats in the chilly weather. Then there is always someone who thinks it would be a good idea if they painted the coat red to prove a point, and the media is there to lap up every morsel of the story. We turned the channel to spare her any gory details they may want to show.

Later that day family began to show up for our celebration and we were all sharing good thoughts for the year ahead, and what we had been grateful for during the year that was passing. This is when Megan took it as her cue to jump in with some very disturbing news about fur coats. She explained to the best of her ability just how bad the practice was, and if this is not enough- she then lectured us on what really happens... "Imagine" she says indignantly- "all of those poor little animals running around naked just so some people can have a warm coat!"

What do you say to that?

Dinah, kids for sure say the darnedest things----especially when they repeat their parents verbatim at the most inopportune time:)  One of my cousins reportedly came home and proudly announced to his mother, "Grandpa says I am as strong as a skunk!"

Charles- Cute. The scary thing is when it is close , but not close enough. The worst was when (this same daughter) would start by saying to complete strangers... You know what my Mom said to my Dad last night? You never know what they really heard or what they are about to say in their own little way.

Kids mimick us and what they hear.    They learn more from imitation sometimes and repeating what they heard

Kids are hilarious!  One of my sons was a walking TV commentator.  My dad gave him some chewing gum one time, and he said 'I'd rather have Freedent, because it doesn't stick to my dentures.'

Keep us posted on what Megan says next!
