PART 3
Look, listen and learn. Twitter can be extremely helpful for you and your business, so you want to know how to leverage its potential to the max. Start by following some people - not just any people.

1. Follow some top dogs.
I read in several places that you should follow the top dogs (or some of them anyway). See what they are doing,  how they are using Twitter and learn.

Finding Top Dogs of Twitter
One way is to visit twitterrati.alltop.com.
The creator of alltop.com (among other things) is an amazing guy - Guy Kawasaki - BTW you can follow him on Twitter @guykawasaki. He has over 30,000 followers.

A few Top Dogs I follow:
@chrisbrogan (another brilliant guy - you should check out his blog too)
@problogger (Darren Rowse- I subscribe to his TwiTip which delivers daily super, super excellent Twitter Tips)
@leolaporte (professional journalist - also hosts and produces a hot (read - popular) technology show on the net Twit.tv - his blog is leoville.com)

2. Follow people who tweet about keywords that are of interest to you
Search Twitter for keywords. For this example I used the keyword "housing"
Once the results pop up you can then click on people (either their photo or their username link) that sound interesting and decide if you want to follow them.

search twitter

search twitter

If you are interested in finding out who talks about your city or community, type the name of your city to the search.

3. Follow people in your city/community
Bill Gassett recently posted about a great way to find people in your area. Twellowhood.
(How do they come up with these names for different Twitter things?)

Note. I follow all real estate professionals that I know of or find on twitter. I love the interaction, friendships, networking AND I want to see how they are using twitter.

Here is a link to a great post - slightly off topic, yet relevant.

Sound advice- and you know there is no making mistakes- try new things out on here- even if it does nothing for you you can't possibly hurt yourself & maybe you actually stumble upon something.
