Hopefully by now you have heard about the "Make it Right" and "The Pink Projects." These are the programs that are helping to rebuild 150 homes in the Lower 9^th Ward in New Orleans.

Possibilities:

Active Rain Members approx 126,000
Cost to build the house $150,000

126,000 AR members donate $1.20 = a new home
30,000 AR members donate $5.00 = a warm space
15,000 AR members donate $10.00 = a safe haven
1,500 AR members donate $100 = peace of mind

Hi Dena, I went to the site... but I did not see the Active Rain house?? I think this is an awesome idea for our community.

It is a little difficult to find "the house that Active Rain built". You can either hit the "donate" button and you have a choice or look for houses that have less than $2000 donated so far. Hopefully, Active Rain members will raise enough money to get us up on the top of the donations list!

By the Way!!!!!!!!! Several members of Active Rain have written about The Pink Project but Deb Hurt is the one who got the ball rolling!

Dena that is awesome. I will definitely donate. What a great idea! Can I post this in the other groups I belong to? Thanks for sharing this.

Terry, post your little heart out. The point is to get another house built and a family settled. Together lets do some good.

This is really exciting. I guess someone with all the holiday rush, I was not aware of this. I was just watching the Carters and what they have been doing in New Orleans. Thanks for this information.

Dena, this is great! I had not heard about this. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. We just finished an online fundraiser for Mothers Fighting For Others which will enable 10 young orphan girls to go to highschool. A alot of good can be done through Social Media!

This is very cool Dena. It's great to know that with so many members we can make a difference. I'm heading over to check it out.

I am a huge supporter of Make It Right 9 and have blogged about it on many occassions. It is so wonderful to see fellow rainers making a difference.

Dena, I don't know where I've been either but hadn't heard of it as well! What a huge difference we can make for almost nothing--I LOVE the idea and thank you or I wouldn't have known!

Dena, We know what great folks are here in the Rain and I know that this project will happen. It shows what we can all do when we work together and these folks really need and deserve the help. Thank you for helping me make this happen.

I know this time of the year we all have due's that are coming due, fees need to be paid, credit card bills are going to show up any minute. But if only 15,000 Active Rain members donate $10 we can get this house paid for and built. How cool would it be if ALL 126,000 donated and participated? The House that Active Rain Built has a nice ring to it doesn't?

Amazing to think that if each of us donated $1.20 (less than a cup of coffee) we could jointly build a house! I'm in.

Thank you all - and please, please, please re-blog this post! As of this morning 12-31-08 there is $115 donated to "the house that Active Rain built" We have a long, long way to go. But look at the math - we can get this done with just a few clicks of the mouse!
