I Surrender!

By
Real Estate Agent with Fredericksburg Realty, Inc.

For those who do not know me well . . .

I am a competitor.  I hate to lose.  I will not give up without a fight.  Nonetheless, the time has come that I have recognized I will not succeed in an endeavor I had just recently undertaken.

I knew  at a young age that I would never be a star in the NBA; could not jump.

I knew a little later on that I would never be a jockey; 6' 2" and 187 lbs in high school.

I knew as a young adult that I would never be a Rhodes Scholar; you figure the rest.

And now, at this stage, I know that I will never ever be the number one rated ActiveRain blogger in Virginia.  My competition is much too adept at keeping their numbers high enough to make me fall off the radar screen.

From this point on my blog will be a labor of fun and nothing more.

Hopefully, you the readers, will find sufficient content in what I do post to find it interesting (or even amusing for that matter).  Remember, Fredericksburg Virginia is a lovely place to visit and an even better place in which to live.

I don't think that you've done too poorly.  I've been here about two months and I've only got almost 19,000 points.  This has been mostly accomplished by reading a lot or blog posts and responding to those of interest.  I am working on improving my blogging, but that is still a work in progress.  I'll probably never be number one, but I'm getting educated and having fun doing it.

Ed, good choice. That's what it should be. And as for being number 1 in the state, just be thankful you don't live in Colorado.

Ed - I've never looked to see where you rank in Virginia, or how many points you've accumulated. I enjoy reading what you write and thinking about many of your topics. Please don't stop blogging.

Hey, Ed, you will make your mark in your own time.  When you post and post about the things that you want to share, it is amazing how fast the points add up. (PS: Google is watching you.)

Ed!  this is not about winning the race, it's about all the people we have met here on AR.  Look how much you have improved since joining AR.  Don't give up on us now.

Ed, enjoy the rain!  It is great.  I remember when my mom told me I wouldn't be a jockey.  I was soooo sad.    But Realtor ain't half bad.  Have fun with all of this and keep the good posts comin'.

Ed I too enjoy your post and your sense of humor.  My approach to this is to have fun, make some contribution and most of all learn something.  Points comes but should not be the focus.

Don't give up! Never give up...I wouldn't be married to my lovely wife had I given up. You are number one in your county and that is a great start. Just keep plugging away and they will eventually fall off. It happens. The old number one in Oregon isn't even on the front page anymore!

Roger - Feel about the same way you do.  Underscore the having fun part!

Leon - Me live in Colorado?  Perish the thought.  The snow in western New York while I was in college (Alfred University) was too much for me.  I'll let my friends Kristal Kraft and Ken DeShaies take care of that beautiful state.

Sharon - It's folks like you that inspire me to write more here.  Will make a posting about you (without mentioning your name) when I finish this.

Kelly - Sure hope Google isn't watching me.  Haven't fully awoken yet and look like death warmed over!

Jim - You need some sleep!

Marchel - Me too.  Have met several who post here and hope to meet you one day.

Kay - Perish the thought that I would give up on posting here on AR.  Just not competing for #1 anymore.

Virginia - Too much fun to give up.  Just wait!

Jennifer -  Humor?  I am being serious.

Todd - Please don't mention marriage.  I have been married since 1958 and am trying to forget it.

All - Am going up into the mountains to do some fly fishing for brook trout on Sunday.  Should have plenty of lies by then.
