2008 has been a very challenging year for those in our industry.  I, for one, will be glad to send it off with a toast to better times ahead.

Reflecting on this time last year, I was also ready to see 2007 boogie on out.  The past few months of the year were hard, but I didn't have a clue how much worse the progression was to include.  We may be headed for a better year in 2009 or it could go farther downhill again!?!

Whatever we shall face, we will be one step closer to walking out of this valley.  Even if we are still not at the bottom of the mountain.  I am chosing to see the glass half full, the grass greener on the other side.  I am sincerely hoping 2009 will be the year we will see a recovery even if a small one.

Do you think 2009 will be a better year than 2008?

2008 was pretty rough for most.  However, downturns do have their good points.  I've turned some of my attention to helping wealthy institutional investors purchase pools of commercial and residential REO's.  These are often far bigger deals than your normal real estate transaction.

Valerie, I'll give you my opinion for what it may be worth, but remember, for every possible scenario, there's an expert who will tell you it's true. I believe 2009 will be a mixed bag; those who haven't adjusted to the new paradigm will flounder, while those who are willing to change and work hard can find success. And, that's the key; success won't come looking for you, you'll have to seek it out. We still have a mountain of foreclosures to work through, and some very bad economic news yet to come.  I'm strangely optimistic about the coming year, not because I expect a turn-around, but because I believe the year will present some as yet unidentified opportunities.

It'll get better.  With a positive attitude and knowing that the glass is 1/2 full will make it much easier for it to get better -

I never have to worry about a year boogieing on out because I just worry about the days. Once each day is over, the next day is the start of a new week, a new month, a new year, my new life. Why limit oneself just because someone invented a calendar 600 years ago? As someone famous once said, "Today is the start of the rest of your life." Get busy! LOL

By persistently and consistently working each day, the weeks, months, and years naturally fall into place.
